the us open
« on: April 13, 2009, 11:26:14 AM »
i think the us open may be becoming easier, I do not know why...

i am not saying it is not challenging at all just not as much

my reasoning is that the lanes are not taking such a huge beating anymore

remember the 63rd us open where Tommy jones won it he was having to go in front of the ball return and loft over the gutter cap the 64th us open same kinda deal pete weber having to stand really deap and wes malott having to stand just as deep. then the 65 us open it didn't take them so deep and this year most bowlers even Amletto a renound power player wasn't standing that deep.

the challenge used to be that you have to trust the ball to the right repeat shots with power to get breaks when you needed them but now that's not the game anymore

who thinks it is a little easier than it used to be

During the week, people apparently played 5th and 6th arrow a lot (even Norm Duke was inside hooking it).  The TV show is NEVER like the rest of the tournament, you can never base it off that.  Chris Schlemer said the reason Amleto Monacelli struggled on TV was because he had been playing 4th arrow and deeper the entire tournament, but had to move way right for the TV show, and he never felt comfortable.

ok i was thinking that because the lanes didn't seem to have as much wear and tear on them during the show that they had maybe played out to 5 to build up room for error then moved into 10

I'd like to see the PBA go back to the 50' flat pattern they had at the Open a few years ago........

The beauty of a 40' flat shot is that it can really play anywhere.  Who is bowling and what track they create determines where you have to play in order to have any mistake area (if that is possible at all) and to get the best carry.  The reason it seems to change from year to year is changing strategies, equipment, and quite frankly the fact that other than the exempt bowlers the other 300-400 players change from year to year and play the lanes differently.

they all started inside in practice, duke was first practicing and moved outside and was striking. barnes came on and threw a few inside, was striking but saw duke than moved outside. same thing with AMLETO, i think if they stayed inside they would've faired a bit better but thats just me.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their OTHER BRANDS ball.
