Title: Thinking of bowling my first regional next month.

There is a PBA regional in Garden City, ID the first weekend of May.  I was thinking it would cost me $600 to get down there and back.

$275 for the entry
$120 in gas
$130 hotel for two nights

That puts me at $525 before food.  I don't know if they run brackets or side pots at regionals?  

I'm trying to find someone locally to help split room and gas costs.  

Are there any hidden costs I'm not seeing?

Brackets, no.

Sidepots, yes. $45 for the 8 game block.

I don't know if it's every regional, but the one I participated in had a 5 game sweeper after practice on Friday.

Best thing is try to find a roomie if you can, that will help w/ hotel and gas.  If not, better bowl well

Just looked at the last regional payouts...  I think I'll be staying home.  Even if I split the expenses, I'd have to finish in the top 8 to make anything.  If I low cashed, I probably wouldn't even break even.  

Uh, no thanks.  I'll look at a high roller or mini eliminator next year.

I'm planning to bowl in Madison the weekend of April 25-27 the other one I was looking at was in Joliet May 30-June 2nd.  Since I seem not to be going to nationals this year I really would like to try a regional.  I'm not to worried about the money because I'm trying it, I don't plan to bowl every weekend.  Splurge a little on your self atleast you can say you tried it.
