TOC: Robert Smith in 6th place after 20 games?
« on: January 19, 2011, 10:04:05 AM »
Is this "our" Robert Smith, 600 rpms, 20 mph?
I thought he went somewhere in Asia after last season to coach or open a pro shop or ___?
He is listed as residing in Columbus, Ohio.

Just curious.

Yes, it indeed is Maximum Bob.

Could be he couldn't pass up the opportunity at a 1/4 of a mil, much like everyone else in the field.

Funny, in the current listings they NOW show Robert's "home town" as Hong Kong. Earlier they showed it as Columbus, Ohio.

I hope Maximum Bob wins it all.

He brings life to the game.

I'm in the process of trying to find out where I fit in the bowling world. I do not know my tech specs of my game, but it's all a learning process.

From what I understand, he was well liked on his visits to China for exhibitions and was offered a job over there running camps and a training center. Before Columbus, he used to live in Hawaii.  Went "west" when he repped for other ball mfg. and had some ties I believe from living on the "islands". Great guy from my limited exposure to him.  Got to bowl with/against him several times before he moved to the "far east"

Some old guy,,,

Yes. I remember that. I was just surprised that, one, he came back here to bowl in a tournament (understandable with such high prize money, and, two, that his home was listed as Columbus, making me think he had returned to live here again.

I think he had found a chiropractor in Hawaii who helped him a lot with his back problems. That was mentioned 2 years ago on TV when he made one of the finals.

Since they changed his "hometown" to Hong Kong during the tournament, I guess he was here just for that.
