Tommy Jones?

Where has TJ been all year? I'm sure he's cashing a check every week and making $$, but he hasn't been on TV all year.

I'm not a big TJ fan, but I'd like to see him be more versatile on TV.  They've said it repeatedly about WRW, that he's underrated for his versatility since he almost always plays that gutter shot on the show but may be all over the place during the earlier rounds.  He has played other lines, though (DW this year, the last few US Opens he's been on).  We see Duke's versatility all the time, you know, when he actually bowls.  But the furthest right I remember seeing TJ play is about 4th arrow when he won in Tulsa last year.

He'd just finished watching Talladega Nights and decided "First or last".

I will have to agree that TJ is a good bowler. Very good, that is. BUT- I will never be able to bowl like he does. I enjoy watching WRW and Norm because I can pick up some ideas from their styles. (I am in their age group)

I hope TJ has a good season.

Isn't that a great reason to watch him then?  Who can bowl like Robert Smith?  Who can even come close to representing his power and revs?  No one.  That is why we watch them on TV.  I don't tune in on Sundays to try to get tips on how to bowl.  I can ask coaches or people at my league.  People watch great athletes because they are doing something no one else can.  That is what the PBA is missing this year - greatness.

You are crazy if you think the pba is missing "greatness" this year.  Duke has already won once and i think it was twice.  Couch is one of the greatest big hook lefties ever, he can hook it with anyone and he's won twice and made a few more shows.  If you think watching these types of players on tv is boring than i don't know what else to tell you.
*Edit*  I'll also add that after Barnes has won 15-20 titles in his career you'll recongnize him as a great player as well....He's made quite a few shows as well

Move left, hook it more.....

Tommy Jones is a Gamecock fan...are you???

If you're a big TJ fan why does it matter what he plays on TV as long as he wins?

take it from me, someone who has bowled against tommy jones for years living in the carolinas, tj can play ANYWHERE on the lanes! one thing that is so amazing to me about tommy is that he can create area when others can't. he is a master at changing ball speed and axis rotation. i've seen him play inside of 20 when others were barely getting a wrinkle on the track.  the way tommy attacks the lanes gives him the most room for error he can give himself.don't bash if you don't know! and as a matter of fact if i recall correctly, there is only one pattern of the five that tommy had never won on.

When he deferred, they said he'd be out for a couple of months.  That was about four months ago, so he's probably starting to get back into high-level bowling.  Good chance, I think, that he'll bowl.

Like I said I am a fan not a fanatic. I will like him to show and let other people see what he is really capable to do in lanes on TV. Don't you think that will be the time to show how great he is.

I do not want bowling to be like ice skating. Once you see it the first time it is fantastic but then the third time it is all the same. So you do not watch it. Nothing to learn or talk about.

Does anybody know the reason why TJ quit the tournament?
