Tour Trials results
« on: June 05, 2005, 06:37:40 AM »
As I said here are the results:
going into the last game Chris Loschetter, Brian Kretzer, Dino Castillo, Rudy Kasimakis, Tom Daugherty, and D.J. Archer had guaranteed themselves a spot in the top ten with points.

Going into the last game
7) Chris Collins Plus 746
8)Byron Smith Plus 724
9)Andres Gomez  Plus 718
10) Bill O'Neill Plus 706
11) Bob Learn Jr. Plus 700
12) Richie Allen Plus 698
13) Randy Petersen plus 645

Randy Petersen basically needed to throw 300 to qualify, he threw 265 the game before that so I thought Randy could do it he went front four then left ten pin, four pin, ten pin...and he was done...good job Randy

Well Richie Allen, Andres Gomez came out on fire...both going into the eight frame had 280 and 279 going respectively.  Byron Smith going into the tenth had 246 if he struck out and Bill O Neill had a nice string going and then he hit I think it was a 2-4-5.  Chris Collins qualified rather easily with I think a 775 but he was kinda shakey
Here's where things get interesting.
Byron Smith goes 4-10 in the first ball in the tenth CONVERTS the split and strikes to go 216 for 744 total.
Richie Allen goes 258 and Andres Gomez goes 246 so they have locked themselves spots in the top ten.

Bill O'Neill needs to go 7 spare strike to finish tenth...dead flush in the pocket strike...bill o neill finished in tenth place with 755.

Brian Kretzer, Chris Lochetter, and Byron Smith even though he didn't qualified all bowled amazing today.  Congrats to the guys who made it, and it was awesome meeting some other ball reviews guys as well.  I had a great time here and highly encourage everyone next year to come see it.  Mo the guy of Morich does look like a mad scientist but he really does care about his equipment and his guys.  Happy Bowling everyone.

Paul, thanks for the detail. It would be nice if pba.com could get live scoring for the guys on the bubble for the last 2-3 games.

Be on the lookout this year for Bill O'Neill.  Stayed in the top 10, throws one HECK of a ball, very solid game, got to bowl against him a LOT in college.  Great guy too, VERY much looking forward to seeing him on TV.

what does the pba have to prepare itself for ? do you honestly think that tommy jones, chris barnes, mika, patrick allen, walter ray willimas, jr., brian voss, norm duke, etc. are worried about who made the exempt list ?

it's great these 10 men bowled well for five straight days----congrats to them, they earned it. well done fellas ! however, bowling on the regular tour full time is a different story. several of these guys have bowled on the regular tour with less than great results. we'll see.

i've known about mika for some time now. i'm not surprised that he has done well on the pba tour in such a short time. he grew up bowling on very tough lanes in europe and this served him well. although he was a "professional amateur" for some time i saw something different in him----something told me he would fare better than other amateurs who came to the pba tour with impressive reputations---like rudy kasimakis, brian kretzer, tim mack, patrick healey, jr.
these are all good players but mika is a level above them in my book.

Yeah Bill O'Neill was not a lock...he was tenth going into the last game and Byron Smith was plus 206 for the day so far and o neill was plus 13...yes 13...So yeah if Byron didnt leave a 4-10 first ball in the tenth we would be saying bill o neill bowled really great except for the last day...he made it...barely...

I still contend the best bowler not to make it was ken simard...he's so smooth and tears the cover off of it...wow

Thought that about Simard a few years ago. I really don't think the helmet is that tight and thats the difference.
