Tim Mack is having shoulder surgery this friday at Penn State University. His estimated rehab time is 4 months but since he is in very good physical shape he may be able to start bowling sooner than that

I think the minimum guaranteed return is $1000 per event. Not sure what entry fee is: $400 or $500. BUT the potential is there for a lot more depending on the normal factors.

charlest, I agree but with the short season, a day job will pay you more. In the PGA, you win once and your life changes. In the PBA, you win 3 times one year and may have to struggle (Steve Jaros) to keep your status.

I am really surprised to see that patrick Girard's name is not there(yet) and that bill rowe's name is. he didn't do much this year there out on tour. and bill's name hasn't been listed on the offical CTF team trial's roster.

The latest article on pba.com says that Girard is having wrist problems that will preventing him from going to Tour Trials.  It sucks, I really like watching him bowl.  He really looks like he's having fun, unlike, say, PA or TJ or some of the old guys.

Do you have to be a PBA card carrying member to play in the tour trials? I'm just wondering, as I would have thought some of the top amateurs would have taken a crack at the trials, I am surprised the likes of Jason Belmonte, Bill Hoffman and Lasse Lintilae dont take a crack at it.

The rule last year was I believe you needed to have bowled at least 3 PBA events as a member during that season (regionals or Tour events).  I don't know about Jason or Lasse, but 2-3 years ago Bill Hoffman said in an interview he had no interest in getting a PBA card.  He probably makes more money as an "amateur" than he would on the PBA.

pbafire, you're right, I forgot about the foreign exemption (for early entries only), here's what the PBA site says about international entries:
quote:

The deadline to request an international exemption to enter the PBA Tour Trials is fast approaching!
You must submit a bowling resume and letter to the PBA by May 1st, 2005.
After May 1 - you are still eligible to bowl, but must become a PBA Member

The last statment clearly states that if an international bowler enters after 1 May, they must be a PBA member.  If they are going to make that restriction for them (the international players), it would stand to reason that for everyone else, you have to hold a PBA card, but I could be wrong.
