Barnes win again. That's great. I heard players say on the tour. You make great shots and you need some breaks also. Barnes got it today.Especially sitting down. It's not how you win but just win baby!

Melvin good point.  The final score said Barnes won....that's all that matters.

I wish I could be in a position to "choke" and still win.  What a bunch of haters.

Barnes versatility saved him this time, whereas other times it has gotten in his way.  Two different balls, two very different lines, and two completely different releases on the way to the title.  I know many here don't like him for some reason, but he's a heck of a bowler.  He probably had the worst look considering the lane conditions today.  Mika's strength is loft, and Simard and Mallot can get super deep and wheel the lane with the best of them.  Barnes isn't any slouch in the rev department, but he's not going to keep up with the real crankers when the heads get torched.

Sure he threw a bad ball on his fill, but the ball before went really high.  Whether he moved a little deeper or didn't catch the release, the ball didn't react like he expected.  It wasn't like he missed his mark by a bunch.  But over the years, his poor shots have always paid maximum penalty.  If one of those shaking pins fell, he would have been no worse than a tie.  Simard bowled great, but how many really solid pocket hits did he have?  I know the really high rev guys carry the light hit well, but a lot of really light hits kept him in the matches.  How many times did he yell for his ball to wheel because he missed his break point only to have it rip back and carry.  He did leave two really solid 10's on good pocket hits.  His future looks bright and hopefully he'll get his first title soon.

Telling it like it is.

Nails,

I would have to agree, and well put.

I'm glad Chris Barnes won today(and no I'm not really a big fan of his) so we don't have to read all the posts on here about another supposed "choke" job as it's referred to on this site.

Chris Barnes did win.  Yeah!  And he earned it.  Everyone that said he got lucky or whatever is discounting the fact that he out-bowled all of the other folks.  Yes, that does mean lucky carries and whatnot.  Thats bowling people!  Congratulations Chris!

DITTO!!!

Barnes won. Get it. He won. That means he did what was necessary to win. That is what counts. If he had missed and lost, this discussion may be relevant. But, BARNES WON.

That means he knocked down more pins then everyone he played against. You don't get there by luck. Although everyone gets a break now and then, if you want to call it a "break". He through the ball, every last shot, and he won. So, stop hating.

I still wish Kenny would of won.  I wish he struck out to win.  It was probably the best 190 game a person can bowl.  The thing that is messed up about the PBA since the exempt system took place is that this was Kenny's chance and odds are against him from ever returning again this year.  Getting the exempt status can mean staying on tour or going back to regionals.

The point is is that Barnes got lucky.  I am still tired of people defending him and then saying how he is better than all of us.  No really?  And?  I swear bowlers have some mindset unlike every other sport when it comes to criticism.  Every comeback is how the player is better than us.

When watching NFL, MLB, or whatever sport you watch, don't start making fun of a guy when he has a bad night.  That is all I got to say about that unless you want to be a hypocrite.

Also, him making the show is one thing.  It is clear Barnes is probably in the top 3 in the world.  But it is like the actor that never made it to hollywood - all because he forgot his lines when under pressure.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

No, didn't know.  Someone on here said he is still in 41st.  Hopefully he makes exempt and kicks out the scrubs near the bottom.

Looks like Ken is up to 31 in the standings, right behind Duke.

Congrats to Barnes on his win---he's still a choker. But by saying that, here is a thought....

Mika choked twice---2 4 board tugs when he only needed a mark.

To be fair, as great as Simard threw it---he needed only a mark in match 1. I mentioned to my dad, with the angle he develops, he could easily leave a 3-4-6-7-10---or something like that. Of course he goes up and leaves only a 3 pin on a big miss in. Could have been the same baby split Mika left---then he caught the very inside of the 3 pin on the spare.

Then in the finals, he makes 1 great shot. Then again---pulls the ears off one and does leave the baby split. Simard made a good showing---not great. He may throw it great and get a "mitt-full" (If I had to hear that one more time...) but his showing was adequate. He made some good adjustments---but he is a professional, thats what he's supposed to do.

There you go, theres some equal opportunity bashing. Malott was hooking it too much. I know that surface hooks, but his equipment just puked when he asked it to hook a little more. There I hit everyone.

Who picks which lane to finish on and who starts first?  The higher seed?

I think that this win for Barnes could be the start of something big for him.  He bowled good (not great, like the Bayer Classic) and got some breaks, for a change.  It seems like in the past, every time he threw one bad, he paid full price for it (big, ugly split) with the obvious exception of the Roll to Riches a couple of years ago. I saw Barnes do something yesterday that I've never seen him do before, he took a huge risk with that big adjustment on the right lane in the 7th and 9th frames with that ball change to the Momentum with the pro-pin layout and throwing it hard and straight.  I've never seen him take that chance when the game was still on the line.  He always plays it safe.  The only time I've seen him make big moves is when he was behind in the match and had to try something to get back in.  That was huge and look for Barnes to have much better success on TV in the future as a result.  That move he made is something normally reserved for Norm Duke or WRW.

One of the announcers (Randy, I believe) said that the higher seed gets lane choice.
