I said this before, this years tv shows are garbage, talking about camera angles. For me the best shot is from behind or from the side BUT the complete bowler's approach. Instead, they start with a front shot and then at the middle of the approach they switch the camera. And they do this for 95% of the show. That sucks.

I believe pulling off that sort of shot in anything other than the arena setting is really tough.

The camera shots may not be that great, but having Norm Duke or Chris Barnes in the booth this year is a huge plus, especially Barnes.  That guy's understanding of bowling is simply amazing.

All during the show today, whenever anything technical needed to be explained, Randy passed it right on over to Barnes.  Good stuff.

With the amount of mic-time being given to Duke/Barnes, it looks to me like Randy may be leaving the broadcast soon.  They are clearly breaking in the new guy...

I agreee totally that some of these shots are HORRID!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ESPN needs to talk to whoever was running the old ABC Sarurday afternoons shows and also the Tuesday night shows. Those were professionally done.
I have no problems with head/face shots and with the full body shot on the approach before the ball is rolled. After that, simply go back to the old over the shoulder/behimd camera angle. This half screen on the bowler and the other half on the pins is stupid and amateurish.

Barnes is one of the most technical people on tour, anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.

If you have gone to any of the shows this year, you would see why it is so difficult to film bowling.  They have multiple cameras in mulitple areas around the lane including a few right in front of the bowlers.  The guy that is zooming in and out is working with 1 other live person and they have to continually provide shots of the players when they are sitting, walking, talking, bowling and then zoom in on the balls as they roll - all with manual controls.  Give the guy a break.  Filmin' ain't easy!

I have seen shots from the 90s and even my first show on tape was the 2002 Empire State (Kent won) and the camera shots are great compared to this year's. They follow all the approach from one angle (from behind and from the side are the best), how difficult it's to film this way today? This year they begin with a crap bowler's face closeup and at the middle of the approach they switch the angle. This sucks. Hope some tv show related guy sees or is informed about this.
