I went to the finals in baltimore in December, and it was a blast! I think the tickets are $20, $40 and $60. My brother and I sat in the $40 section, just to the left of the bowlers, and slightly down lane. Great vantage point if you don't mind a slight neck tightness. I liked it a little better because I could see the release point from a better angle, and watch the ball motion better then I could from behind.

If you are interested in getting ESPN airtime, sitting down lane you are more likely to get shown then if you are behind the bowlers. Oh, and make a sign with PBA and ESPN on it, they always seem to show them.

quote:
If you have the money, definitely get seats behind the bowlers, $60.  The one time my dad and I went for a telecast, we had the next level down, $45 seats that go down the side of the lanes to the left of the bowlers.  We got there the recommended hour before showtime, but they had already filled the $45 section, so we were actually seated at the very edge of the $30 section (around 20-25 feet downlane), only 5 feet or so from where we should have been.  Even that 5 feet wouldn't have made a difference in our view, though, as we couldn't see the 4,7, or 8 pins from that angle.  Basically we would have had to watch the monitor after every shot to see the result.  I can do that at home, for free!

So, since we were seated in a section at lower cost than what we paid, I complained, and they told us we could sit in the back of the $60 section, and didn't charge us for the upgrade.  The view was substantially better from behind.

If you are looking for the best bang-for-your-buck, I would actually recommend against attending the Sunday telecast, and instead go to the rounds of 32, 16, and 8 on Friday.  You will see much more bowling, many more of the pros, and for less $$$.

(Note the prices I quoted above were the different levels when I attended 3 years ago.  They may be different now.)
