What happened with him in the Ultimate Scoring Championship? This tourney was on a house shot. You'd think with him being the best power player on tour, he would absolutely tear it up. He finished 47th overall and only had one game over 250. What?!!

As it's already been said before in another thread regarding the USC...

Most exempt players don't see this sort of shot day in and day out.  TJ's an accomplished bowler on the 5 main patterns and has even done well on some of the patterns used in the majors.

Walled up shots simply don't transition in the same fashion "sport" shots do, especially when you add amateurs to the mix.

I dunno, maybe he had a bad week? Didn't choose the right equipment or adjusments? Couldn't carry? Too much power?

Remember guys not everyone smashes every house shot.  If you look around your local bowling community you can see bowlers average 230 in one house and 215 in another.  It is not that the shot is "tougher" there, they just have a time matching up.

Just because you knock the snot out of the ball at the bottom doesn't mean you will hammer a top hat shot....you still have to be able to match up.

47th overall and saying he didn't both well is relative.  The top guys this week averaged nearly 260.  So averaging over 220, like he did, is certainly not bad.

Well actuall he did bowl bad with that logic.  That's like saying someone who averaged 215 on the US Open bowled bad.  They didn't because the pace was 200, they bowled well.

If the pace is over 230 and you're at 220, something was wrong.  Angle, ball choice, physical game, anything.

Over 14 games of big transitions and lane breakdown different than what they normally see, it was a given some of the top players wouldn't match up.  Now give those same players 32 weeks of 3 games a night and watch them light it up every week once they've found the right equipment and physical tools.

1. breakdown/transition is different on a house shot

2. Just cuz you can hammer on it at the bottom doesn't automatically mean you can score. NOT ALL CRANKERS EAT UP A HOUSE SHOT.

Look around you. How many crankers do you know? How many of them average 240 on a yearly basis?

3. Maybe he just had a bad week. It happens.

4. This one is my personal opinion. With the exotic layouts he uses, as well as his smashmouth style of play, he probably had quite a bit of over/under and uncontrollability.

Score is relative. He missed the cut for match play, so can it really be considered good?
