Upcoming PBA Trials
« on: May 27, 2004, 03:09:09 AM »
The PBA tour trials in Merilleville to determine the final 8 exempt spots for the 2004-2005 season are just around the corner.  Anyone beside me excited about watching the leader board change over the course of 5 days and 45 games?  Is there anyone who will be trying their luck?  (If so, good luck!)

Maybe we should have a friendly competition to see which one of us predicts the most bowlers who end up winning exemptions.  Pick 8 bowlers before the start of competition ... whoever gets the most of their 8 picks right becomes the "BR Crystal Ball Master"

I think it's going to be a really tough competition. Good luck to all the players. I'll be cheering especially for my fellow countryman Tomas Leandersson.

I think that the tour trials will be a "crap shoot". There will be so much talent there that whoever gets hot for the week could make it. We may be surprised at the results. In any case, best of luck to all the Midwest Region guys that are going!

What would be even more fun, and more challenging, would be to pick the top 15 placers each day, on each of the different PBA patterns.

IMHO, anyone who can finish in the top 20 on four out of the five days, will finish in the top 8 overall.  A lot of these guys will have a great day when they hit their favorite pattern, but will be near the bottom on their least-favorite patterns.

Whaddya think?  Is that too easy?

Actually, it's just "snowball's chance".  Came from Jefferson, and was originally "a snowball's chance in the hot streets of Philadelpihia in summer", but they shortened it.

You pick these things up when you live somewhat close to a city.

Nick best of luck to you. I know that Liz Johnson is not going from here, and last I heard Jack Jurek was still debating, but most likely will be shoeing up as well. It will be a tough 5 days, but well worth the experience even if you are not fortunate to make the top 8. Again, best wishes from WNY.

My picks are as follows:

Chris Loschetter
Steve Hoskins
Elliot Ten
Ronnie Russell
Randy Pedersen
Tim Mack
Ritchie Allen
Blaise Bedolla

A little bias because i'm from Florida.  Hoskins and Pedersen make it because of their years of experience.  Loschetter and Russell proved they had what it takes last year with Ronnie just missing the cut and Chris bowling great in only half a season.  Mack and Allen are just too talented and Ten is a personal friend of mine who has unbelievable game and will prove it when he gets the chance.
