Or just smart.  This tournament isn't for points, and he knew his odds of success weren't great since he isn't a high rev guy or a lefty.  Good time to take a rest since he is getting older and starting to get a little injury prone and all.

That sounds logical!  It's hard to beat the crankers on an easy house pattern.  Just like it's hard for Crankers to beat straighter players on tougher patterns.

That and he is old, and the regular tour event is still running this week Thursday - Sunday.  He might not be able to handle all that competition in 1 week.

Duke just won the world championship, he doesn't need points!

I thought all the "extreme" tournaments they were doing mid-week (this and the plastic ball tournament) were just for cash and the trophy?  Maybe I misunderstood.

I'm not sure if this counts towards exemptions or points or just cash?  I can't wait to watch the plastic ball tourney!  That will be an awesome event to watch.  I would imagine Duke and WRW will do really well in that tourney!

I'm expecting to be surprised by the plastic ball tournament. We don't know which guys practice with plastic, experiment with plastic, etc. Jim Pratt used plastic on the show a couple years back and finished 2nd. There's a good reason for that. He practices with plastic on a regular basis and knows how to use it in the modern scoring environment (Not trying to slight the other top notch PBA guys here).
