Yea i bowled a youth tourny a couple years back in Gainesville that he was at.  Throws it good, and hard.

I saw Sterner up here in the Harrisburg area when he came to visit Jeremy Gilbert (middle of the pack at the open). Sterner does throw the ball sweet. Alot of fun to watch when hes going good because he makes it look really easy---when its really not.

They bowl 9 more then cut to 24 for matchplay.  
Sterner's good friends w/ Prokapec, so i'd guess he's throwing brunswick.

From the PBA site:

The top-quarter of the field (115 bowlers) will bowl nine additional qualifying games Friday, after which the top 24 will advance to round robin match play. The final four will bowl for the $100,000 top prize and a three-year exemption through the 2008-09 Denny’s PBA Tour season on Sunday, Feb. 19, with the live ESPN telecast airing at 12:30 p.m. EST.

Well, the local guy that I know/bowl with, Steve Rogers, finished today's round in 8th, so he's going to match play. I hope he does well. Does anyone know how the format works? First of all, are they going to bowl the round-robin in 3 8-match blocks? It would seem that way since the PBA site listed their being three different match-play sessions. Also, does anyone know if total pins are carrying over the whole way? Since they've carried them over thus far, I would think that they will and then just add the standard 30 bonus for match wins. If anybody has answers to these questions, please post.

Gene,
     The Match Play part of the tournament is in 3 8 game blocks and yes the total pins for the entire tournament do carry over. Also 30 bonus pins are added for each win in Match Play. My boy Vinny D'Ambrosio finished tied for 38th. What a great showing!!
