Voss Overpowered

Voss is going to have a problem everytime he has to face one of these young guns like Tommy Jones in a one game match. I give him Kudos for making it to the Finals but he looks completely overwhelmed when he has to try and match strikes for one game with these kids on the Tour today.

Not so! BV can still bring it and give as good as he gets. There is no one more intense on tv than BV. Just cause he is mid 40's you think he cant take on the young guys that's arse! Walter is mid 40's and has only ever got better with age. You either love him or hate him but you have to respect him and admit that he is still the man no one wants to play.

It just looks like to me he lost his reaction and didn't know how to adjust or what to do. The first game he was dead on did get a couple of breaks but he looked terrible in the second. I believe he could have went straight with a plastic and done as well. All of us have had a great game only to look terrible on the next game but I just don't think we expect that from Brian Voss not a bowler of his quality

One Scenario?? Voss's last 3 times on TV he's lost to T Jones, B Himmler and Pete Weber all in the final match. All of them are guys who throw better strike balls than he does. When he needs to throw strikes he has more trouble doing it than some of the guys out on tour today. That's all I'm saying, the facts speak for themselves.

Oh cmon, Voss the best strike ball on tour?? Are you really serious? I'll name just a few who throw better strike balls. Angelo, Hurd, T Jones, R Smith, P Weber, J Couch and Patrick Allen. Voss has had a great career no doubt about it but how could you say he may have the most complete game on tour. I think Walter Ray has that distinction.

How many times has Rick Lawrence finished into the best eight this year? What is his Revrate? How many times has Tommy Jones finished into the top eight?
How many times has B Voss and T Jones been to the finals?

Tonybowls what you are showing is ignorance, like Jabroni said, about what the sports of bowling is all about. You still have a lot to learn.

Here is my 2 Cents...and really that is about all this is worth..lol..

Seemed to me Jones was able to figure out the changes better than Voss..changing to a very non agressive ball.  Seemed Voss never caught on that the left lane was drying out in the heads a bit quicker and needed to get around the ball a bit more to get it through the heads..

only caught a bit of it as was working but that is what my untrained eye caught..

Hey Borincano, You really think I have alot to learn? Let's see. I've been  Bowling about 25 years  and I've been watching the PBA Tour religiously for about the same time. I'm not exactly sure what more I can learn? I guess you could teach me.

Did Voss's equipment let him down? Is the equipment a variable?
AMF? Probably not but..
This goes to show us all that even the best are not perfect all the time. Transition can humble us all, and in a one game match, two to four shots can mean the difference. The lanes changed and it is pretty tough to stay ahead of the changes. Jones bowled excellent and Voss did as well in the first match. The lanes changed and poof, four shots later, Jones is too far ahead.  It kind of gives me solace in knowing that the lane transitions are tough for these guys so when us hackers go from 230 230 to 170, it is not always me; the lanes change and it may take awhile to figure it out. just my 2 cents

1 game - you match up, or you don't. Period.

You have 5 shots on each lane. With lights, sweat, and stress, that's not many. One mistake, combined with one lane transitioning faster than the other, and voila - 2 bad shots. That's all it takes!

Voss and Duke don't have the fanciest games on tour. They don't have the biggest hooks, or the highest rev rates. But I'll take 'em week in and week out - they are two AWESOME players.

The only thing that Voss did as a human bowler was that he over analyzed the final game. You can see him doing it when he sat down. It will happen to all of us one time or another. He should have kept the same ball and same shot. We all can have from 1 to 30 years of experience in bowling with time still enough to learn more about the game. We never stop learning. Each day is a learning period for all of us. But what a game to learn, enjoy and have fun every day.

Tommy Jones changed balls so that he could continue playing the same shot.
Brian Voss should have done the same thing. At least thats what it looked like he should have done. Generally speaking i'd take Voss over Tommy Jones anyday but only time will tell. Tommy Jones is a power guy who knows how to adjust a scary combination.
