What is Wes Malott's style?
« on: December 03, 2006, 01:53:25 PM »
Everytime I see him roll, I get more impressed with his game.  There's something about his ball that is just plain Heavy, it seems like he's rolling 17 pounds or something, the power that ball has.  What would you call him, though?  I don't see the giant, arm-rip of a true cranker, but he's certainly not a stroker with the revs he puts on the ball.  Is he just a true tweener?  A power stroker?  What would you call him?

If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

Splendorex I agree...a 17 pound ball.

He has an unusual way of extending even further out thru the ball that makes him not only as much extension as other 6 foot 5 men but EVEN more.

Or he looks like when delivering the ball that he has the arm of a 7 foot 5 man somehow!  GREAT to watch.

He throw such a powerful ball and makes it look so effortless.  I love watching him, cause he can throw on any pattern the PBA throws at him...as evidenced by the fact that he has done so well thus far.  I would call his style one word....versatile....I don't think anything else can describe Big Wes.

His versitility seems to be improving this year!  Hope he can keep it up as I enjoy watching him!  Versitiliy is why people like WRW Jr, PDW, Duke, and others can continue to compete at their level even through the changes in gear, lanes and oil!  The best always find a way to "adapt, improvise, and overcome!"  OoooooRaaaaah!

I'm glad you guys like watching him because once it was TJ vs. Malott, I totally lost interest in the show.

WRW really blew it with that spare though so I guess it was meant to be.

I don't know what to call him, but I sure wish I had his release. That is a lot of power being released at the pins, and the effort looks pretty easy on his hand and body.

Yeah, it looks almost like he's just dumping the ball off, but it still has so much power!

Hehe... it's painful for me to watch those two guys play.  I realize everyone probably idolizes these two guys but not me.

I'd call his style "what you can do when you have a very large hand."  I'd bet that he can come close to palming a bowling ball the way Dr. J could palm a basketball.

Yes take 6'5" 250#'s worth of energy and pack it in to a 16# ball
and see what you get.

Watch the speed at which he gets to the line in comparision to Tommy.
Tommy moves a little faster to generate his momentum.  Wes has so much size
that there is not a lot of movement needed to to generate the power.

What's the deal w/ his thumb?  Looks to me like, just as he starts his approach, he removes the thumb almost out of the hole then puts it back in.
