Title: Way to go person who shall remain nameless until everybody has seen the telecast . .
Post by: HamPster on November 30, 2008, 04:18:21 AM
Nothing against Kenny, just glad that Wes got it done.  Everytime he needs a big shot, he makes it and never carries, so it's nice to see him get his due.

ok ill start...

Try using a *Spoiler Alert* next time buddy!!!!

Some people (not including me) take the time to watch the show on sunday
Some people (not including me) feel that if you want to discuss the results, you should wait until they have watched the show

just kidding about the spoiler alert..

what a great show until the womens match...Kenny is a monster and will win soon enough

great job Wes..congrats on #4

Lol, I forgot all about that . . I'd say though that as a general rule, if you haven't seen the telecast yet, why even get onto the PBA forum here?  Just doesn't make sense.

HamPster,

You dont even have to get on the PBA forum to see this as it shows on the BR front page under "Last 10 posts".

From now on, whoever is going to start this nonsense, don't put "spoiler" as the topic.  Put the name of the tournament and thats it.  Name the topic, "Carmen Salvino TV Results" or something to that affect.  I think that people do this nonsense on purpose to get a rise out of us.  They know what they are doing.

Good show great championship match. The women were awful no fault of theirs , they should have had a fresh pair to bowl on not 2 lanes that had been burned up by the men. Incidently who pays for the womens purse?

Did Wes win or did Kenny give it to him? Seems Wes won only because Kenny couldn’t get around the ball return on the right lane. It’s a shame when something like that prevents a person from throwing a quality shot.

Wes and Kenny where playing the same part of the lane and BOTH had to make alot of adjustments. Kenny did it with speed and Wes did it with loft. It was a great down to wire match that Wes won.. Kudos to Kenny for bowling a great game but when he whiffed the 2 pins on that split that cost him some major count..

Even if Kenny did give it to Wes, which I don't believe that he did, that's not Wes' fault. That's like saying, "They didn't beat us, we lost." It makes no difference. And I don't believe that Simard gave it to Wes. With Simard's rev rate he gets in front of the ball return all the time and has plenty of experience from there. Wes also went stone 9 and smash 10 while Simard went trip 4 and a leaner to take out the 10. And Simard didn't get count on his split.

Wes won.

How about Wes won?  Wes got tapped on 2 of his last 3 frames.  Stone 9 and a wrap 10 in the tenth.

Simard caught the same break.  No one gave anything to anyone.  Wes earned it.

You never lose a game in the 2nd frame. You do something you regret, badly. You wish you had it back but that's about it.

Ken didn't give anything away. His carry for 2 frames in the middle, was a bit luckier than Wes's: kicked out a 4 pin and had a 6 pin barely lay down on top of the 10 pin. Atthe end when it counted the oil went all over the place and they had trouble carrying 10 pins. Wes needed a double in the 10th to lock out Ken. He threw the first and left a stoned 10 pin. Ken needed a double in the 10th to beat Wes and had the same thing happen: left a stoned 10 pin.

The PBA should do something about this crappy oil they're using. on EVERY show under the TV lights it seems to disintegrate and disappear. Someone complained how the women bowled so badly. I replied if they bowled first, their scores would have been much higher and the men's final would have been a disaster.

The professionals look bad this whole season on TV.

I too think it is the hot lights that affect the transitioning of the oil. However it would be hard to change...reason being, the proximity of the lights to the lane surface. In a normal bowling center the ceilings are only 15-18 ft. from the lanes. The only way I can see that the lights have little to no effect on the lane oil is if every tournament was held at the National Bowling Stadium. It is what it is...

There still is no reason why they could not have had 2 additional lanes ready for the ladies. If trying to get people to tune in to watch them then at least give them lanes that are half way decent to bowl on

The reason is that the TV arena is not set up for 2 extra lanes. I suppose that you could use the pair to the right of the main TV lanes but lighting, cameras, and probably the announcing booth would have to be moved. It's just not plausible with the current arena setup.

Here is a novel idea.  Re-Oil for the womens match.  It only takes like 5 minutes to do.  Interview the mens winner while they are doing that and then let the ladies have at it.

It was right Wes won.  He threw a better game than Ken.  That's how it should be, but what should be doesn't alway happen.  Wes got a little quick on the second ball in the tenth and left the 10 pin.  I am sure the ball feels like nothing to him and he did not feel the slight change in speed.

I was just about to say the same thing.

Wouldn't take that long and the women get a fresh shot.

Do it during the commerical break..

Why not simply set aside 4 lanes for the TV show 2 for the men then two for the women!
