i honestly thought pete weber had a very good chance of catching( and possibly passing ) walter ray williams, jr. as much as i despise pete weber as a human being i must admit he's a great player. i figured walter ray would eventually slow down, both physically and from the desire and determination standpoint, and retire. with his great fortune and college degree intact he would move on to another challenge. weber on the other hand doesn't really have anything else to do and would stick around long enough and pass him. after seeing walter ray almost win player of the year last year( at age 48 )and already winning a title this year along with a second place finish, i stand corrected.

ive mentally gone thru the list of current pros, and id agree with greg on this one.  WRW wont be touched by anyone unless those high effort power bowlers (ie sean rash and tommy jones etc) learn to really tone it down.  chris barnes could if he could only blah blah blah...norm will need 5 titles in a season at least once or twice over the next few years, since he is walter's age and far enough behind.

At last check Tiger is still 4 behind. But you never have let facts get in your way.

Someone might/maybe pass wwr jr someday assuming the tour survives. But I doubt if it is anyone with over 20 titles currently on tour.

Of course I know that...he is however only 32!

NEVER did I think in my lifetime that Jack's records would be approached due to a much deeper field of top players.

Though I am not sure Tiger will do it....due to his injury.  The probables are yes...he will by dramatic amounts.

As an ardent golf follower...if you'd like to discuss some statistics or other things re golf...let's have at it.  Show us some of your knowledge instead of your pithy comments.

Of course I am aware of Palmer's most impressive major victory was his last!  The 1964 Masters by 9 shots.  Never another major title after that!

Anyone who legitimately thinks Rhino Page can catch WRW in career titles (and there are apparently several of you) should make an appointment for a CAT scan as soon as possible. The guy has one title to his name, hasn't sniffed TV this year, and is on pace to not even be exempt next year, yet several people seem to think he's on track to be the greatest of all time.

That's like saying a MLB pitcher coming off a ROY campaign is a sure bet to win more games than Cy Young. Rhino's rookie season was historically great in terms of rookie seasons (so wasn't C.K. Moore's, for the record, and how's his career doing?), but he only won one title. If Rhino catches Patrick Allen in career titles, I'll be beyond surprised.

A possible contributor to his second year struggles could very well be that the PBA has once again tweaked its oil patterns.  

As mentioned on the tube during yesterday's telecast, all animal patterns have been modified by going to a 2:1 oil ratio instead of 3:1, and have been lengthened by an extra foot, which changes the playing field to favor those that like to hook it a little, with the exception, of course, of the likes of Williams, Duke, and Machuga (they can play them whatever way they feel like it—straight or hook).

Rhino has yet to prove he can make it through an entire field with these changes in effect, although I, for one, am not ruling out his ability to adapt and conquer, and, yes, start making shows.

But, generally speaking, I agree with your assessment, although I would be as surprised as you to see him win a tad more than 10 titles once his career is over.
