PBA Oil Pattern
« on: February 06, 2005, 09:12:48 PM »
Is it just me, or were there FAR TOO MANY shots that were sent FAR TOO wide that came back ?!?!?  Shafer, Duke......come on .....that shouldn't be...you miss that wide, you should pay the price.....I think there is a lot more friction on these "newly named patterns" than meets the eye

Oh stop, A pattern is only 37 feet and is one of the more hooking patterns. A1 will hook more than E3, thats for sure!

Nick I'm not talking about backends, I'm tallking about outside boards....both Ryan Shafer and Duke each missed a couple plenty wide and it just hit a wall and went left....just makes you wonder...I'm not saying I'd tear up one of these patterns, ...but come on

Jeff, A and E naturally want to hook from the outsides, just this week there was a little bit more oil from 10-10.

Generally, you move in when they break down, feeding it to the breakpoint.

Jeff, they used to have schematics that showed the volume from board to board, but I don't think they do anymore.

I found that when they lost their ball speed or sent it wide without enough revs there was a reasonable penalty. It looked like both Duke & Shafer  had their balls set up for a hook/set reaction that helped them eliminate the high hit split problems. just my opinion.
