Weekly PBA Post: US Open (2-20-05)
« on: February 20, 2005, 02:24:18 AM »
Well, I decided to do this again.  I'll be updating as the show goes on.

What's in the bag:

Match #1:
Walter Ray Williams-  Rule GP2
Mika Koivuniemi-  Polished Ultimate Inferno

Match #2:
Patrick Allen- Big blue pearl
Mika-  Ultimate, and an inferno

Finals
Chris Barnes- Throttle up
Patrick Allen- Big blue pearl

Match Scores:

Match 1:  Mika wins the game over WRW, 212-179.

Match 2:  10th frame, Mika needs 8 to win, leaves 7!  Tie Breaker at 194!!  PA goes first, leaves one standing!  But mika gets a 9 count too!  PA up again, leaves the SAME exact shot.  This time though, mika missed wide like he did in the 10th, and leaves 8!! Wow!

Final:  CHRIS BARNES shuts up his tormentors and wins it all!  He needed a strike, and 9-spare in the tenth, and did just that, with the strike being flush to boot!  The score was 213-212.

Congrats to Chris Barnes!  Its about time...lots of "suffering" on TV in the recent past...this one makes up for all of them!

Barnes finally wins, and a major at that!

That wasn't the icon300, the icon has purple and orange and red and stuff, this didn't..........Well, c300 should put it up on the site sometime, so....

Yup---he ALMOST snatched defeat from the jaws of victory..................could've been a 4-9 or 4-7-9- on that fill ball in the 11th frame. Instead,he got a break and only left that 4 pin.
You gotta admit, though. That's the best match in a while, especially in a major.

I think the last two matches could qualify for some of the MOST exciting since Kelly Kulick won the Women's US Open  2 years ago!

Barnes was using a Throttle-Up.  I had a friend at the Open say he used that and a Big Bully the whole week.

I hear alot of raggin on PA. I'll say this he is one of the standouts this year and has proven he should be considered as one of the best on the tour.

PA will take the player of the year award.  I bet you, he'll win another title, AND he finished second in the two majors.  That's more than anyone else can say.

You are sure... Throttle Up huh?  I remember Steve Wilson looked great with that for one game early last year and then it went away badly!

I also thought maybe and Icon 300.

Oh well I'm sure it will be on Columbia site!

PA is a whiney crybaby.. He can also be a jerk at times. I sopke with him for a short time at the Dallas Open and it was like he wasn't interested in anything I had to say.. He does not come across as being very friendly..

On a side note, I was so glad Barnes won his 1st major. Maybe it will shut up all the Barnes haters on here for a few weeks. Chris carried a couple of slop shots and so did PA that last match..

He was also NOT using an Icon 300, that was either a Throttle Up or Big Bully.

Congrats Chris!!

If they only made a ball that would carry that da_n 7 pin (and I am right handed!!)

dont confuse total concentration on the task at hand to being a jerk. In fact I kinda like the fact that he is sooo focused.

DANGERZONE,

I am not talking about when he yelled at the fan on TV today, I am talking about his poor attitude with the fans when he is not even bowling..
