With the references to retro bowling and with the recent passing of some PBA legends, I'd love to see a couple of fun PBA tournaments on TV that pay tribute to these legends and the conditions that they bowled on.
- All urethane tournament. I'm not sure if all manufacturers could make a urethane ball so this might not be feasible, given the contract status of some of the players.
- All plastic tournament. The bowler could use whatever ball he wanted as long as it was plastic. Since all companies make plastic equipment, this wouldn't be difficult to have the pros equipped properly.
- All rubber tournament. This one would be difficult since nobody makes rubber equipment anymore, but it would be fun to see. In theory you could just have one company make the rubber balls if they are still equipped to do so, but just have no visible logos on the balls and have the players wear whatever ball company shirts they wish.
It would be nice if the tournaments were held on old wooden lanes, but that might be too difficult to find these days. Even better if you could use laquered (sp.?) wooden lanes, but that's probably impossible.
Any thoughts?
