...couldn't provide any evidence to the "lefties have it made" theory of late. Angelo was so erratic couldn't have hit the ground with a ball if he would have thrown if out of a fourth story window.
Seriously, if you've watched the tour the last two weeks, you've seen the lefties dominate. It happens. However, if you look closer, you'll be able to notice why. With very few exceptions, Couch has been amazingly accurate while throwing an angry bowling ball. Sure, he's strayed a board here and there. Even these guys miss once in a while. For the most part, IMHO, the lefties have had success the past few weeks because they've scored AND bowled better than their opponents. Angelo had the entire lane to himself. Which, for some, is as much a hindrance as it is help. For these guys, never. Norm Duke explained this to a "t". He had plenty of opportunity to burn in his line or create a little hold area durng practice and the breaks.

Angelo looked absolutely horrible out there. He had no consistency and his accuracy was non-existent. He seemed very erratic and kind of all over the place.

Not really trying to diss Brad Angelo, but to me he looked like a guy coming off a 3 day drunk. Bowled about the same way.

I agree 100%. Him and Mike Machuga are the worst bowlers I have ever seen on TV. I saw Mike Machuga in real life too and he is just as bad.

The right side was just nasty. He had a bad day. In practice nothing hooked. Why do we have to bash everybody that makes the tv show. This is why hardly an touring pros come on here. They don't want to hear how a bunch of idiots think they are better than them. Just shut up.

If you guys have never bowled on a nasty condition that made you look as bad as Brad, then I understand how you can say the things you are saying. When you have absolutely no shot, everything goes away including your confidence. If you ever do get a condition like that, I hope you think back on the comments you just made about him.

Lets also take into consideration that Angelo was not using the same ball he used all week. Kind of hard to use a Smokin all week to use other balls that may not have matched up on that pattern quite as well on the tv show. When you dont have a "look", you tend to force issues a little.

One of the best things I learned from my college coach is that "there is no such thing as a bad lane condition and no such thing as no shot". I have followed this advice since and it has paid off. People that complain that there is no shot or the lanes are bad are those that shouldn't be bowling in the PBA anyways. It is similar to when people blame computers for everything going wrong from virus's to hard disk failures. It isn't the computer (the bowling lanes), it is the operator (the bowler). I could of beaten Brad Angelo throwing a straight ball from the outside line.

LOL...If Brad Angelo couldn't find it, then it probably wasn't there. If you haven't ever been locked out then you haven't been to enough centers.

It has nothing to do with him not finding it. Even the commentators were making fun of his lack of skill. If he gets a strike and can't repeat that shot, then he never deserved to be on TV to begin with. Also, whenever I "can't find it" as you say everyone experiences at some point, I don't blame the lanes. I blame myself for not being accurate enough to repeat shots and not being skillful enough to "find it". I find so many league bowlers crying about the lane conditions and it makes me mad. When I bowl 250 one game and 160 the next game, I don't start complaining about the lanes. I just admit that I choked and played poorly.

I think different on this matter, i believe it shows how good Brad really is overall. I sat behind him and watched him in the round of 64, he changes lines and hand positions as well as anyone out there. The bowler that did not impress me made the show and shot 230 that day Scroggins using the new shift ball. He is better than me thats is not hard to do most people on here probably are too, but i pride myself from my extensive coaching and bowling with world class bolwers that i know what i am watching in front of me.
PDW looked lost in the round of 64 does that make him bad also???? He is right handed and had really really bad ball reaction, he changed balls, lines everything and just kept throwing up his hands like what the he11 is this again?? I think they choose to shut down the right handers a few weeks and it will be a different deal as they go back east again. If you bowl out west even on regular league shots they change very quick here in vegas from the altitude 2200 feet and the dry desert air. You can have the nuts one game and it is gone in the next 5 frames, probably more my lack of vertisility but i see it happen to better bowlers left and right. Lower friction lanes surfaces and more oil volume has made you have throw oil sponges that unless you change fast your done.
-
Brad was all over the place and couldnt hit anything if he tried and Troy Wollenbecker sould have beat him in the round of 32......
-
he was just using the wrong balls from the start. He didnt even have a look in practice either.

If Brad Angelo is really that lousey, has no talent, & didn't deserve to be on the show, what does that say about all the rest of the righties that he beat out?? You guys slay me!

its not my fault that angelo cant bowl on tv. ive bowled on hard patterns and ive had my fare share of bad games but geezzzzz hes a pro hes been bowling on that same shot for a week he should of done better.

I know from time to time, my mechanics just plain suck on a particular day. Obviously Brad had a great week or he wouldn't have made TV. Maybe he had a pro's version of a crappy mechanical day. Even a great bowler can look bad if he doesn't feel comfortable and feels like he has to be perfect on every thing. The end result is that every thing gets worse the more you try to be perfect.

I read ALL of this tripe.
What about Mr. Walter Ray the week before on a lefty shot? Some of the best bowling I've ever seen! Adjusted speed, line, release, roll.....please folks that have it on tape please go back and tell me this wasn't some of the best adjustment bowling ever rolled on a PBA TV show?????
Angelo didn't hit crap but look at WRW the week before!

sdjrlefty: Angelo out averaged Cain 232.8 to 218.4. It's the pro's job to find the good scoring part of the lane and take advantage. Surely every week someone has more area to work with and they take it.
Close300: Angelo out averaged Wollenbecker 234.3 to 210. Your point is what?
BrunsBob has a post on the 3rd page here (http://"http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=151521&ForumID=2&CategoryID=2")that helps explain Angelo's difficulty.

brad angelo righty? i thought he was lefty since he struck more on the other side

j/k
the guy just tried and couldnt find it, it was like 1 board to the right and it was going to brooklyn, one board left it would not make the turn. he should ve moved in on the lane that he went brooklyn but he chose to stay, anyway he bowled bad, hope he can recover from that

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment
When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one
This guy on youtube posts videos of the PBA
for ppl who dont watch TV or want to save the matches this will be great!

I had an interesting thought when I watched the show again today. Do you think Brad Angelo wanted to use the Fury? What did he use all week? I was thinking Brunswick was pushing him to use the Fury since it was their new release, and he was just trying to make it work, but it didn't fit. Granted, this is all speculation, I've no idea what's in his contract or if Brunswick said anything, plus the Total Inferno didn't look that good either. This would explain why he was trying to get lined up with the total on one lane while throwing the fury on the other. I think he didn't get enough time to get line up with both balls, and ended up not being lined up at all. What do you guys think? I've seen people this year throwing their company's new equipment when it comes out (Couch & Allen with the Total NV, PDW with the Special Agent, Scroggs with the Shift, and now Angel with the fury)

I thought the same as you. Walter ray put on a clinic on a very hard shot. Absolutely on par with Norm Dukes mastery of the five board earlier this year.

Whether you think you can, or whether you think you can't... you're probably right.

There are two truths here, at least:
1) Brad Angelo has talent, or he wouldn't be where he is and have led the tour in either average or points, I forget which, within the last couple of years.
2) He has trouble on TV.
This happens to describe a lot of people, including Patrick Healey and -- whenever he faces Walter Ray at least -- Pete Weber.
I think someone made an astute observation earlier about Angelo's pushaway, and how his game seems better geared for a longer format than just one or two games. Or, it could be just garden-variety choking going on.
What's undeniable, though, is after this many failures on TV, the problem is with Angelo and not the lanes, and it's up to him to find a solution. Furthermore, was this most recent tournament not on Viper? I've yet to see a difficult Viper layout. Not saying it doesn't exist; I just haven't seen it.
