What are your thoughts on Kelly Kullick?
« on: August 27, 2006, 09:26:21 AM »
I havent been keeping up with much of the pro stuff, but I did notice on PBA.com that it has a poll that says, "Will Kelly Kullick win a PBA title"? About 60 percent say no and 40 percent say yes. It doesnt say, "Will Kelly Kullick win THIS year"... It just says "Will Kelly Kullick win a PBA title"? To me I think people might think it means this year. To me I think it means overall. How do you think she will fair in her career?

She's good enough to win a title, but I don't think she'll win one this season.

I discussed this last weekend at a regional nearby with the PBA Tournament director. He and I both agree she has enough game by far to win. The only concern we each have is whether the constant media attention will wear her down.

My other concern was if the guys get jealous of all the attention. Other than that, yes - she can win. And probably will. This year.

Keep in mind that she bowled well the first 3 days last year, and was well within the top 10. The last day on Cheetah pattern killed her. So she went back home, practiced, and this year SHOT 300 the last day on the same pattern that eliminated her last year. YEAH - she can bowl!~!!

Only an idiot would get jealous.  She could potentially bring in so much more prize money as interest in the game would most likely rise as the media would fall in love with the idea of a women competing and beating men in a game.  It would be historic.

It could generate more interest and greater pots eventually.

This would benefit everyone.

This is why the PBA and USBC are hoping so much that she can make TV and maybe even win.

If she could win, it would be a boon for the game.  It's already getting more popular with high schools and more and more people are starting to play again.  Something like this could bring back the golden days and create a lot more revenue for players all over.

I wish Diandra Asbaty(sp?) would have been the first female exempt bowler instead.

I feel she will do good on tour.  I also feel she will make a show.

Kelly Kulick is one of the best woman bowlers in America. In my opinion she is only behind Liz Johnson, Carloyn Dorin-Ballard and mabey some team USA bowlers like Shannon Pluhowsky and Diandra Asbaty. With that said, the talent level of the PBA this year is the best I think ever since the exempt field. I can see her doing well in qualifying and making match play. I don't see her making it far into the bracket one on one formats. But since they implimented some round robin tournaments, I think she could make a show.
My prediction though I don't think she will win a title or even make a show but will have an outside shot at remaining on tour for next season.

I just hope we dont see the Michelle Wie/Annika Sorenstam syndrome hit, the media blitz will be tremendous for her this year, how well she copes with teh media will be a strong indication of how well she bowls this year.  I would love to see her win, but as much as you dont want to admit it there is and will be some jealousy out there and unfortuntately it will rear its ugly head

I had the pleasure of having her bowl in my center this weekend for a PBA East Region Event.  She was the best of the pros in the pro-am and she finished in the top of the field for the Regional.  She was eliminated by Ray Edwards who had the East Region exemption last year.  Kelly did manage to throw 300 on the final day.

After watching her vs others who have "been there" or are going to be there, I think she matches up well and will give the boys a run for their money.

I believe that on a qualifying weekend a while ago she finished 6th out of hundreds...I believe that was an incredible and high peak performance and PROBABLY right near her best result this year on tour...just almost on a show...or barely making it!

There is a statistcal possiblity she could win...but I believe...slight!

I watched her bowl at the King Pin Lanes Regional, in rome new york. She is able to come up with what is necessary in times of high pressure. She won 2 rounds in the 10th frame of the last game because she struck out and held in the emotions. Then she held it together through the extra shots that it took for her to beat tommy delutz jr because they tied.
