Ryan Ciminelli = today's John Gant

I couldn't help but notice the near exact cranker style and game of Ciminelli's to former 80's-90's touring player John Gant. Gant, who had some moderate success on the tour in the late 80's and periods in the 90's was nicknamed "The Buzzsaw" for a reason for his snapping lefty wrist motion and assertive straight up follow through that produced one of the most powerful balls at the time on the left side of the lane.
Ryan's style to me is very close but I think he has better game then Gant did in his prime and will just be time before he wins his first title and hopefully more to come.

im new to the sport, so i dont know many of the older bowlers. i will prbobly get flamed for this but i would think if he was "one of the best lefties ever" i would have heard of him, especially since im lefty and try to watch all the videos of leftys i can.

While I wouldn''t say he was one of the best, you still have to be pretty good to win 4 titles AND the Tournament of Champions. And it was only in 1997, not exactly ancient history. If you haven''t heard of "The" original "Buzzsaw", it''s never too late to learn.

I liked his style, his game and his poise on the lanes while on TV. Always a gentleman. Actually, his devotion to his family and his wife restricted his participation in PBA events somewhat. If he had been a more regular player, I think he would have won more titles.

We're not talking about that this guy went to state tournament and got hot for 9 games and cashed. He entered long format tournaments against all the top pros on two completely different sport patterns and beat them all minus 1 both times. Regardless of style, equipment, or experience, that is very impressive.

Yes, he shows "potential" for future PBA tournaments. Rhino started that way, but he made it out of the TQR in 9 tournaments in year. ANd he continued being "good" inhis sophomore year. We now think of Rhino as good in PBA, which means much more than, good in local or state tournaments. Until he becomes a factor in each tournament (that is, until other PBA participants think of him as someone to watch out for), he has PBA "potential".

pretty impressive for a 23 year old guy with a lot of potential.
he was the high average in college bowling in 04-05 ahead of names like rhino page, pj haggerty, david o'sullivan and brian valenta.  So apparently he can get the job done, and he has also done pretty well last year bowling through the TQRs.

I think it also makes ciminelli versatile by being able to pick up a weak ball and play the twig with a high rev rate.  Considering how much he turns the ball its obvious that he could move in and let it hook, its just about matching up.

The problem with today's game right here...versatility isn't just moving your feet and switching balls.  It's altering hand positions and ball speeds....I'm not saying he can't do that, but playing different boards with your feet isn't being versatile.
