Ok, I'm no pro and I wasn't bowling at the event, but you gotta ask yourself, what was Pratt thinking bowling against Mika, bowling in the finals with a PLASTIC BALL!!! I mean, Mika had the front 4 and he's still trying to roll with a plastic ball? Am I the only one who feels this way? Yeah, I know he beat Wiseman and all, but Mika is on a serious hotstreak right now. So why not go with less aggresive reactive ball and play your game?

From what I read he used it all week...worked to get him there...why switch??? Thatd be smart.

I used an Element AU on my left side spares on the show. I actually had a good look on the practice pair with an Energy we drilled up for the show. The TV pair was much different than we had seen the previous couple days. On the right lane the ball was jumping out of the back of the pattern hard. During the 15 minutes of practice I had what I thought was a fairly decent ball reaction with my Element AU but the Energy was way too strong. After watching the match with Mika/Tony and seeing the scoring pace from the inside, I decided I should try the outside with my plastic one more time and it was much better than anything I had inside.

That Energy I drilled up made an unbelievable move in the mid-lane. On most other patterns after just a little carry down that ball will be great.

Why does who he bowled play a part in what ball he throws?  The score was 267-226 and Mika got a few good breaks while Jim did not.  That's the way it goes sometimes.  I don't think he could have controlled a resin ball with his rev rate.

Nothing wrong with throwing plastic, if it gives you what you feel is your best read on the lanes. In my league my teammate that is a PBA Regional bowler has been using an ebonite rubber ball and been averaging around 240 with it for the last 10 weeks. It gives him the best read and allows him to play where everyone else is with the reactive and particle balls.

I think or I see he did his best. the ones he didn't strike he was off a bit. Thats human. If he strike every shot then whos going to buy new $$$$ balls. hehehehe ME

That is exactly it.  When trying to score, good bowlers will use whatever will work best in the situation given.

I won't get into an argument over lucky carry or who should have won.  When Jim Pratt executed well, he was flush in the pocket.  Aside from the one 10-pin and 5-pin (mind you Wiseman left a 5-pin with reactive equipment) his carry was good.    If Jim had executed 12 good shots instead of making the mistakes, he would have been difficult to beat, regardless of the fact he was throwing plastic.

I agree...the bottom line here is if the guy had won we wouldn't be having this discussion and he very easily could have.  He's the one on tour and he's the won who got to the show with the plastic ball, so who are we to question it?  

It's a lesson a lot of people on this board should learn; If you have the right entry angle and ball speed and all the rest...anything will knock the pins down, despite what the ball companies would have you believe!

I remember him in Arizona when we bowled the ACBA's, and he was kicking everyones butt with a pink hammer.  The guy is good, even with urethanes and plastics.

Excluding Mika who by the way stayed with the same shot that went for a 194 the first game, what other bowler made more $$$ thatn Pratt off of that tourney? Enough said!!!! Go with what got you there!!!

Well, I'm sure, knowing this group, that we would still have a variation of the discussion...only it would be "He won using WHAT??!??
