How bout a Pro's vs. Joe's segment?
Ok, that's dumb, but I think they need to keep steering towards that. They need to show the general public that the people who are on these shows are the real deal. Most people can see someone strike out on any given day at their local alley. Keeping pushing how talented these guys are over the house hacks and maybe that will help.
They could also go more into what the players are throwing. That may produce more ball sales. Actually say the name of the ball and the manufacturer instead of showing close ups. Of course, the ball companies would have to agree.
I'm not in marketing so I don't know what it would take to actually pull this stuff off, but it's just a thought.
