Title: what weight do the PROs use?

Hey group
 I was wondering what ball weight do the PROs use...I know many of them use 15s and some use 16s but I was wondering which PROs use what.

I read an article last year in BJ that the majority use 15 lbs, due to core dynamics.

Yes, majority use 15lbers.  I read the Storm newsletters & Chris Schlemer, their ball rep does an article called "In the Bag" after every tournament that a Storm staffer makes a tv appearance.  In it he tells what ball, weight, finishes & layouts were used.  I would say that I can't remember any being 16lbs, although there might have been 1.

I still think Norm and Barnes throw "the man weight" (as it used to be called), but many of the top pros now throw 15. I'm pretty sure Mika, Allen, TJ, Walter, etc. throw 15...if I'm wrong, sorry in advance...

I'm not positive about any of the above, it's just what I've heard or seen...

the brunswick ball rep on the pba tour, rick benoit, has been quoted in the last year or so in bowlers journal international that 70% of the touring pros use 15lb. equipment. there are still many that use 16lb. equipment including walter ray williams, jr., norm duke, parker bohn III, chris barnes, robert smith, sean rash, etc.   these players still use what's referred to as, "man weight". and then there are a few players use 14lb. equipment.

WRW changes back and forth.  They mentioned him using 16# when he won the World Championship, he said he was leaving 8s and 8-10s.  But when Missy Bellinder was on the show for the Women's Series when WRW won earlier this year, they mentioned that she was the only one on the telecast using 16#.  Guess WRW changed again.

Other than most throwing 15 stuff, I know Parker, Rash and Missy throw 16. PDW throws 14 I beleive

That may have been while he was recovering from his shoulder injury two years ago.  I remember seeing an article saying that he was up to 12# and would be using 14# soon.

i know randy pederson uses the 15 cause he mentioned it on a telecast one day

There's about 15-18 exempters throwing 16lbs, and many more of the higher level amatuers.

that was tim mack I think your thinking of. pete is 15 I believe

Pete had a lot of shoulder problems in the '04-05 season.  I think that during the off-season in '05 he had surgery done on it and was working his way back up with the lightweight balls.  I know Tim Mack was similar.

A few that I remember:

Mika and Amleto use 15

Machuga, Scroggins, Barnes, and Ciccone use 16
