Title: Which PBA pro would you bowl doubles with?
Post by: neverbackdown_x7x on April 15, 2012, 04:29:35 PM
If you had one PBA pro to pick from that you would want to bowl doubles with in the tournament, who would you pick?

I would have to pick Norm Duke as my partner just because he seems like a super nice guy and just being in his mere presence would boost my confidence by 1000%.

Tommy Jones,

If you have bowled with Norm or WRWJ at a pro am or something you would understand. They are sarcastic assholes

For me, it would be a toss up between Barnes or Belmonte.

Michael Machuga. Always loved his game, seemed to be a cool guy watching him years ago in match play and talking to the crowd before bowling and a very underated player.

Norm Duke.  I bowled in a pro-am at the Showboat in Las Vegas several years ago.  One of the nicest

sports people that I have ever encountered.

I would also go with Norm Duke, one of the best.

I've bowled with Norm Duke before in a pro-am and would absolutely bowl with him again if the chance comes up.   He's truly one of the greats and a class act also.  If he was already taken, my next choice would be Jason Couch.  He has done so much in his career and 3 TOC wins in a row is tough to beat.

If it's mixed doubles, I would choose Leanne Hulsenberg or Diandra Asbaty.  Both have proven that they can dominate.

My Arsenal (as of February 2012)
Heavy Oil:  Roto Grip Defiant: 3000 AB
Medium-Heavy Oil: Track 919C: 3000 AB
Medium-Heavy Oil: Ebonite Vital Energy: 4000 AB
Medium Oil: Track 505T: 4000 AB
Medium-Light Oil: Hammer Brick: 2000 polished

Adres Gomez,,,,, Love his style and it would be pretty darn interesting to learn an international

Missy Parkin for mixed just because she is always smiling :)

Mostly because he is a personal friend but also a great bowler.

Rick Steelsmith.

Second would be Justin Hromek but he doesn't have a card anymore.

I know no one is going to name this guy.I'd pick Guppy Troup just for the fun factor and his wardrobe alone. Met him at a pro-am in late 80's, just a very cool, outgoing guy.

If he was still bowling I would say Marshall Holman but Steelsmith is a close, close second.  So smooth yet so much power.  A real shame is rotator cuff did him in early in his career.

I'd bowl with any of them.  I could learn a lot from watching and interacting with any of them.

The bigger question would be whether any of them would be willing to bowl with *me.*

That reminds me of Ernie Schlegel from back in the day.  Once he got amped up, there was no turning back.

On the MEN's side it would have to be like many before me Norm Duke.  I have talked with him at several bowling camps.  He seems like a great guy!

On the Ladies side it would have to be Joy Esterson.  She lives in my area and I have bowled against her in league.  She is a great bowler and an even nicer person!

I have learned alot from both of them and bowling doubles with them would be a blast!

oregonbowler, I've had both Norm Duke and Walter Ray Williams, Jr., sign a bowling pin to raise money for a charitable cause and found both of them to be polite, tactful, and quite professional. I'd bowl doubles with either of these guys in a heartbeat.

I would go with Duke, but would consider Walter Ray or even Michael Haugen.  Just some straighter shooters so we can play off of each other's shot.   Plus, the benders could really tear up a shot.
