Which pro will dominate this next season?
Here's my 3 scenerios:
1. This just very well maybe the year Chris Barnes get's the monkey off his back and crushes everyone!
2. This may be the season Duke stays healthy and wins 5 or more titles! We have all seen what he can do as a part timer! lol
3. WRW! Not much to say because the guy will always be in the hunt to capture titles every week until he decides to retire! The only thing I can really say is the other guys on tour better hope WRW doesn't learn to carry the ten pin a bit better otherwise he's going to win 5+ titles in 08'.
4. I also think a new face will grab the top 5 this next season. Maybe our very own Jeff Carter will tear it up. You know he's itching to get out there after missing most of last season with an injury!
-
How about Wes Mallot?

I know both of these guys are a little arrogant but Rhino Page and Sean Rash and going to be some competition this next season.

I think it'll be the year of the Rhino.

I will be looking for Wes Mallott to bowl well using Roto Grip.

I love the sound of falling pins anytime of the day.
I live in Buffalo, NY and contrary to popular belief, it is not snowing.
I wish I had Chuck Norris with me last night. He would have made sure that 9 pin went down for my first 300 game.
-
I'll take an underdog just for giggles and say that Mike Scroggins plays consistent enough to win the POY title. He's not flashy, but he just seemed to get the job done this year (finished 5th in points).
Second choice as a top-5 longshot would be Tony Reyes, if he's healthy.

im pulling for rhino to have a good year to show that last year was no fluke, i just cant imagine what he can do without having to qualify through TQR.

If Norm Duke can keep bowling like he did in the US Open, and if he can stay healthy, he'll be tough.
-
ive got to 2nd scroggy having a good year. but ive also got to wonder what kind of a year rhino will have, not having to qualify through the PTQ's.
Heres My Forecast top 5 in points standing next year
1. Wes Malott
2. Chris Barnes
3. Scroggins
4. WRW
5. Rhino

I dont know about a top 5 finish but I'm making a LOT of changes in my physical game....if things go well, i hope to have a very solid year. It's time to adapt even more to the way the lane is telling me to play it, so we're re-vamping pretty much everything. That and a solid diet and lots of cardio to get me ready for the long season ahead. I'm down 25 lbs since my surgery and still working to get lower.
As for my sleepers for this season :
1) Mike Wolfe
2) Billy O'Neill
3) Michael Fagan
As for a dominant player....to me Barney keeps getting better and better. Eventually he's gonna figure out his "TV troubles" and we're all in trouble when that happens !!!

Jeff i am rooting for you, I am from La Salle, Illinois have family all over the state. Hope all goes well and you earn the title you deserve, you are a positive role model for kids that in the youth leagues.
Guys like you is why i think the tour needs to be kept going, I have thought about this and think an optional USBC fee to fund your prize funds would be great.
I know you do not want anything handed to you but at least to help the sport of bowling live on, 3-5 bucks a year is something we all would never even notice spent.
-
I think Mallot is going to win atleast 5 titlessince he will prob line up with roto and Chris Barnes

It's hard to leave Tommy Jones out of the mix when talking about dominance.
-
I've gotta cast my vote for Wes Mallott as top player.... too much talent and better equipment(Roto) pushes him to the front.

I will say Jeff, Billy O'neill and Ken Simard will all have breakout seasons next year.
-
You guys forget Tommy Jones and Doug Kent!!!

I think O wins one finally but dominate nah he is no scroggy, scroggy is better than most think he kind of sneaks in and usually wins a match or two before going out.
If you talking about left side domination it will be Rhino who will be in every tournament now and has no pressure from making TQR's anymore.

My vote is for Rhino Page and a healthy Jason Couch!

While it is hard to make a pick for the top, even though I can't really stand him Barnes has got to be in the mix. As well as Malott, I think the change to RotoGrip and a chance to be the "top dog" will prove out for him.
As far as Rhino goes, while I think he will have solid season and remaining near the top, im thinking top 10 or 15. While it is a longer road to bowl the TQR's, it is also 7 games of practice on that week's pattern on that week's surface. With his talent level and that small added knowledge, I think helped him have such a great year. Without that extra practice, will it make a difference, I think just a little. I think he might win once again, just not a totally dominating year like some here are predicting. But I have been wrong before.

I've got to think that Tommy Jones will get his swagger back. But looking at the recent USBC mag and you see WRW as the only bowler in the top 5 in average for all the patterns I think he could have a big year.
It really is hard to say who will dominate since we don't know who's coming out of the Tour Trials.
On a side note I want to see 900 Global on TV.

My choice right now would be the Big Nasty Wes Malott. Him throwing a cell or the Grand Illusion when it comes out could be a deadly 1, 2 punch.
Let me add saying I think a good sleeper could be EVD, Eddie Van Daniker. I compete with him in the East Region and this kid is only 22 but does have some unbelievable talent.

Ed Van Daniker is one hell of a bowler. He bowled a regional here in the SW region between tour stops in Vegas and El Paso. There were about 4 TQR guys that showed up to bowl. I crossed with Ed on Saturday, and while not really overpowering, he was smooth and consistent. He threw the same shot on ball 1 and the last ball of the day.

tommy jones
wes malott
chris barnes
rhino page
sean rash
would all be the top 5 i expect to see win
i always enjoy seeing someone new or someone from the past in the mix however
--------------------
-
WRW
Mallot
Barnes
Scroggins would be my fourth choice. After that, you can't count out Duke or Weber if they are healthy. They will win more than there share. The young guns will show up, but they will not dominate the likes of Williams, Mallot or the new Chris Barnes.

walter ray williams, jr., was the only player in the top 5 in average on each of the 5 basic patterns that the pba uses-----this includes pba player of the year chris barnes. i'd say walter ray is still the man.
-
I think TJ will get a few wins this season. If he wins four times, which is very possible, it will be hard to top him. Barnes and Walter Ray are so consistent and will still be in the hunt, though.

I can't say. Jason Couch and Jeff Carter could come off of injured reserve and have huge seasons. A healthy Norm would be dangerous to anyone. WRW is tearing the tour up still. My personal favorites Jason, Jeff, Rhino, Barnes, Scroggy, Big Wes, T.J., Mike Wolfe, Tony, and Bill O'Neill (I got alot of favorites I know I'm missing someone) all have chances to really bring down the house. Also, look for PDW to go on a tear if he decides to adopt his bad boy image again, I'd rather that Pete than the new nicer Pete. The only thing I'm definite on (I know this is shallow of me but I can't help it) is I want to see Diaper make like three shows and lose all of them in the semifinals.
-
I hope that any pba professional that has not won a title wins has a breakout year as long as its not Billy Oatman, he sub in our pba league and I was not impressed one bit and no one even acknowledge he was there or even cared
--------------------
you have just been played "by the game"
-
I think that Tony Reyes will come back to have a great year, but I think that Chris Barnes will get the monkey of his back and dominate this year
-
I look for Norm Duke to have a great year if he is totally healthy. I think PDW will be back after a disappointing season by his standards. I want to see Tony Reyes come out next season and tear it up as well as seeing Jeff Carter win his first of many titles nexy season. I would like to see Billy Oatman bowl well and win a title. Danny Wiseman hopefully can be healthy.
Barnes will be there, WRW, TJ, Big Nasty, PB3, Rash, and the younger players are making it exciting, Simard, Fagan, Rhino. It should be fun to watch and how many repeat winners will we have next year? Will Ryan Shafer win a title next year? How many first time winners will we have?
It will make for an entertaining tour season and I am looking forward to it.

-
With the tweakings of the PBA patterns, and the supposed tightening up of the left side that's going to happen, I think year will be the year of the righties. I see PDW and Duke just steamrolling granted they both stay healthy. If the left side doesn't tighten up, I see PB3, Rhino, and Couch in the mix. And if Chris Barnes gets over his TV woes, he's just gonna win everything.
-
i hope
duke

pete weber
has a great year

norm duke (if he can stay healthy)
jason couch (comming back)
wrw
pdw ( if he can get out of this tv funk)
chris barnes (dont care for him but has umbeleavable talent)
-
Bill O'Neill, his game is better then ever right now. I'm predicting 2 wins from the young kegler.
-
Tommy Jones
--------------------
-
Actually, I'd look at a virtual unknown from the Central Region, Stephen Carrier. He bowled one Regional 4 years ago, and finished 5th to last, but he's so damn pretty with a bowling ball, the PBA is going to fix it, so they can have a new spokesperson.

Ahhh Disco Biscuits!
-
For the 4th time in a row I believe Tommy Jones is going to dominate this season. 7 years ago I predicted he would be the best bowler of the 00's and still stand by that. Even at this point it is debateable if he is. He's all ready hall of fame eligable. I think his concentration this season is his key which he was lacking a little last season despite getting 2 titles. I think next season he doubles that to 4...perhaps 5.
-
I'm rooting for Tommy Jones and Jason Couch.

One sleeper that most people wont expect that dont know him yet is Jason Sterner...Since Joining the PBA last season he has accomplished a ton. 24 yrs old and led the South Region in points, furthermore he made match play 22 out of 29 events last season with 2 titles. He finished in the top 24 at the open when he was 21 while shooting a 300, 298, and 279 that week, just saying...keep your eyes out for him to make a move this year!!!

Chris should stay home with the kids and let Lynda have his exemption! LOL!
Seriously, Chris Barnes will be at or near the top again this season.
