I think there are two distinct points being raised here. The first is the actions of the fan in question, and the second is the actions of Randy. The actions of this fan were without doubt unsporting and unwelcome. However, I can see no way that this kind of action can be prevented while still holding the finals live in front of an audience. Ejecting this individual and banning them from future events does not seem like enough of a step. Maybe they should be refused membership of the national association for a period of time as well, if this person is a bowler (but I can't believe that they could be)
From the detailed descriptions on here and other sites, the issue of Randy Petersen's actions has to be discussed. He was spot on if he called this person classless. Shouting at a crucial moment in a competition is unsporting, classless and not in the spirit of sporting competition. I think Randy should be applauded for not going mental at him, but managing to hold himself back to just shouting at him. By the same instance, it is a situation and occurance that people at that level should be prepared to deal with. I can't believe that in all the years Randy has been bowling, that this is the first time that someone has shouted during his approach. A large part of sport is being prepared for all eventualities, and if you are in front of a live crowd, anything can happen. I am not knocking Randy by saying this, or attempting to excuse this individual, but I don't see any way around the problem while still having a live crowd.
