Who do you think will dominate this next tour season?
I'm willing to bet Duke is going to really be tough to beat. If he didn't get injured last season, he would of probably won a few more titles than he did.
I'm also curious to see how Robert Smith does. I wonder if his hip will hold up. I also read somewhere that he's cut down on his revs a bit to gain more accuracy.

HAMMER NO MERCY is Un-freaking real! Using this ball is like cheating!
-
I will be rooting for Duke and Jeff Carter.
I hope Jeff has a fantastic year and I could see him do really well now that he is no longer a rookie to the whole tv thing and the way the tour is run.
Though I would put money on it that Tommy Jones dominates this coming season, I see him as the one to beat.

i'll still be cheerin for PBIII
i like Jeff as well

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment
When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.
-
Although it's early I'll make a few predictions.
Wes Malott will take POY and win 2-3 titles, including a major.
Tony Reyes will win 2 titles, including a major.
Billy Oatman gets his first title.

I'm gonna say Tommy Jones is going to be player of the year next year.
And whenever the lanes favor the lefties, Jason Couch will be there.

I guess everybody forgot about the POY...being exempt and having (much) less pressure could make a big difference.

I have to say Norm Duke. Norm Duke + good toe. Right?

I'm putting my money on Wes Malott. He's shown he knows how to make shows and win, but he hasn't broken loose yet. I think this is the year you are gonna see him make a lot of shows and win 3-4 titles, including a major.

I say Duke & Weber win 5 or 6 stops combined in a tight POY race, each winning a major as well. Kent does well at the Masters again. TJ wins another 2 titles. The rest of the titles going to a mixed bag of guys like Wiseman, Barnes, Bill O'Neill(1st win), Ritchie Allen, Patrick Allen, Wes Malott, Jason Couch, Carter, Shafer. And I predict Eddie Van Daniker will run the table out of a TQR and win a title to take an exemption into next season.

Not just because he is our BR brethren (well, maybe that helps a little bit
), but I personally look at ball reaction over the course of making multiple TV finals.
Our own Jeff Carter had wonderful reaction all year. Some of his opponents' reactions got a little squirty at certain times, but Jeff was torching the pocket on his telecasts. Plus, he looked quite comfy out there. His modesty would not allow him to say so, but he really did look like the cameras really didn't affect him at all.
Tony Reyes had wonderful reaction all year. From the 300 to the year-end major showings, he had great looks all year.
Norm Duke.....who knows? That toe injury kept us from a really compelling POY debate.
Doug Kent....hard to count out the reigning POY. How solid is his game? Sheesh!!!!!
Sean Rash and Big Wes will probably make 40-50% of the TV finals this year. Don't forget, these guys are young and have PLENTY of time to get even better.
All in all, I am looking forward to this season and for wonderful things from the above players.
-
TJ and Wes without a doubt.
-
Just curious as to why the majority is thinking Rash will dominate next season? He's a hell of a player, and when he's on TV his reaction is unbeatable, but there has been a few stops last year when he was nearing the bottom of the pack. So it looks like when he's on, he's ON.... but when he's not, he's not making the round of 32 cut.
Is this thread in realation to winning titles or totaling points?

You will be seeing a whole lot more of Jeff Carter IMO.

I think Shawn Rash can win a couple of title plus pick up his first major.
I think Tony Reyes may make many shows this upcoming year, capturing multiple title and his first major.
I also think that Park Bohn III, Patrick Allen, Jason Couch and Tommy Jones can make a run at POY
I can't count Duke or Walter Ray Williams out of the fold.
Next tour season should be good.

I honestly think we will see a lot of Robert Smith and Wes Mallot this year. Duke, Barnes, WRW and PDW will always be in the mix.
What do you guys think of Billy O and Mineman???
-
Billy O will breakout once he gets in a groove.
Sean Rash will make more shows.. I think hes going to lose one this year though.. not saying hes not going to win at all.. but his streak will come to an end.
Parker is gonna be POY

How about it! This guy's balance at the line is flawless! I can't for the life of me figure out why this guy has not won more titles in his career. He can swing the lane or play the gutter. He's great at doing both. I'm curious how he's going to do with the BWP in his hands.

Well I went with Tommy Jones last season and so far I have no reason to think he won't give POY another run this upcoming season. I think after watching him dominate the Tournament of Champions I think he is ready big time this season.
-
Regular Basis:
Tommy Jones
Wes Malott
Sean Rash
Patrick Allen
Kent (at his age he is impressive as heck but age will set in)
Ones to see from time to time:
PDW
Reyes
WRW
Barnes
Mika
Duke
with the exception of Reyes all are getting ack hum "up there"
i can say that as i am as well....
People I would love to see win as they seem to be good guys:
Carter
Ciccone
I normally am a Duke fan but I always root for anyone who hasn't won before I love to see the look in their eyes especially when it is likely they won't win again.

Well, I think Big Wes Malott will be dominate. I think since he is back as a Columbia staffer he will win 2 or 3 titles. Also, I think Duke will have another great year. I think Norm will be back in the hunt for player of the year. Also, I think Patrick Allen will do great with the newer Ebonite equipment coming into play. And of course the man himself, Jeff Carter. I'm rooting for him like the rest of you are!!

I'm liking all this PBIII support. I figure all he has to do is not miss single pin spares on TV this year and he will be a shoo in.

I think Tommy Jones will the most dominant player next year. His health and swing are back to 100%.
I believe Jeff Carter will win a title next year. The changes he was working on last year really helped in the second half of the year.
-
My pick are as follows:
Of the 20 scheduled stops, not counting Dydo Japan Cup,
2 titles will come from 1st time winners, 8 titles from
the older bowlers (35 yrs old and over) and 10 titles will be
from the young guns 34 yrs old and younger... I just think
the young guns to be more dominant this season.
My 69 cents...what's yours ? Don't over quote me...

I hope to see Billy O on at least a couple of shows, and I'd love to see him win his first title.
I think Duke, Kent, TJ and Reyes will all be very strong this year.
I also expect to see Chad Kloss make a show or two, he fought his way all the way through a few TQRs and nearly into the championship a couple times last year, I expect a good showing from him now that he got his exemption.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

It's going to be the same guys at the top, year after year. Want to pick something hard? Tell me who is going to be 30th thru 40th. Analyzing the usual top 10 pecking order isn't much of a debate.

First let me say thanks for all of the posts that feel that i'm going to have a great year. You know i will be working my butt off harder than ever this year......afterall, i guess i've got to do it for you guys !!!
Second let me address a few things in this thread. I think that Sean ( my illegitimate roommate !!! ) will continue to progress. Some people dont like his attitude, and i agree that it holds him back sometimes, but i do think he will only continue to get better
I personally think that Chris Barnes is ready to totally break out. I think Chris will admit that he is the main thing standing in his own way, but i really think that greatness is just around the corner ( i personally think hes already there, just doesnt know it )
The other person i think is in for a career year is Mike Wolfe. I watch Mike week in and week out and i think its only a matter of time before he heads to the top
Others that i think will be in for big years are :
Mike Devaney
Michael Fagan
Steve Jaros ( he's a free-agent right now and his ball reaction is looking good )

Interesting Jeff, you would know best since you are with these guys every week. Devaney has some serious game, I can't believe he hasn't won more. Barnes is phenomenal and it really is only a matter of time before he wins POY.
-
I think Jeff C. is going to break through a win a title. I also think you will see Todd Book on a couple of shows. He has oodles of game.....

You have to throw Patrick Allen into the mix. That guy has dominated the Chameleon pattern the last couple seasons and now hes back with Ebonite, WATCH OUT! Also TJ's healthy and Tony Reyes is out to prove something.
-
I don't know about yall, but after seeing Dino getting exempt through the PTQ's, it's hard for me to think that he won't have a good year; I could easily see Dino winning at least 1 title. Wes will have a great year and win 3+ titles with a major probably. Norm, Allen, PBIII, Carter, Barnes, Jones, Weber, Kent, Couch, Rash, Mika, Smith, WRW, and a few others that have been at the top will remain there and numerous titles will be divided amongst them. I agree with Jeff about Mike Wolfe, I actually thought that Mike was going to have a breakout year this past year, but his time to shine is coming up soon. There are some great bowlers that yall have forgotten about, like Mike Scroggins (if he can figure tv out, he will be amazing), TOMMY DELUTZ, Machuga, etc. It's just so hard to tell though, because the caliber of players out on tour is amazing and anyone of them can win on any given week. I think that it will be Ryan Shafers last year if not then next to last year, I would like to see him win a title, he deserves more because he has been great for many years. I would also like to see Joe Ciccone and Chris Loschetter win a title. Whatever happens, I think and hope and pray to God that this next year will be the best year ever because not only does the PBA need it, bowling needs to get more recognition. I also hope that the prize fund and such will be alot better this year because the guys need it. But we will see what happens

Im a bit surprised not to see more mention of Mika, Randy said on the show about his ball reaction problems last year, yet he still managed to win a title and finish well in points, if he figures out this reaction problem he could well be POY again.
Also Tommy Jones and Wes Malott will be strong, but whats new? and I really hope Jeff Carter has a great year, he deserves it with all the time and work hes put in.
-
Watch out for Chad Kloss for ROY. This will be his first full season but what I saw watching him he's got one killer game. If anything, I think he's the favorite to win Rookie of the Year. Only Steve Weber is nearly as good.
-
I think $FAVORITE will break out this year, I've seen him bowl and he's got a great game. He's sure to win three or four titles, including all the majors. Also, $FAVORITE2 is just itching to win that first title, and I think that once $FAVORITE2 wins that first one, he'll win the next three or four weeks in a row.
