Highest rev rate vids?
« on: February 14, 2006, 01:32:09 PM »
After reading the post about which pro has the higest rev rate I fugured maybe someone has some vids of these guys in question.

Personally I feel Robert Smith can rip it the most.  Rudy Revs or Coffman is probably second.

Well is there anyone out there with vids of these guys that show them when they really crank the crap out of the ball?

I dunno about you guys, but this is the biggest shot ive ever seen on video.

Who was that?  Yes that was a good high rev shot.   It looks like he is really turning his hand a lot.  I bet he has a lot of axis tilt on that ball.

The biggest shot I have ever seen was when Robert Smith and Couch went at it I believe it was the first year Smith became a pro.  I don't remeber the match ut they were both throwing the ball very fast and with a lot of revs.

When I seen the VID that was the first time I had ever seen Robert Smith.  I was in awe.  I wish someone could find that vid.

This guy does have a high rev rate.  Have you ever seen Robert Smith really rip one.  Smith has a higher rev rate than this guy but this guy is right up there no doubt.

This matt Riley uses the frisbee release.  If you slow motion it with the mouse you can totally see it.  How good of a bowler is he?  I know he can rev it up but revs don't make you a great bowler on tough patterns.  How good is this guy?

I bet this guy crushes house patterns with ease.

I agree, he most likely dominates house patterns, but what happens to him when you take the puddle out of the middle, and put a little oil right?

If he plays on that kind of lane pattern his high rev shot wont work.  That is when he would have to change his release.  When your playing on that kind of pattern it's like a reverse block and the down and in shot is the correct choice.

That is a prime example why high revs is not always the best way to play.

However this post is too see some high rev releases and this guy has a high one.

Id say a few national titles allows us to call him a competent bowler.

Australian bowlers bowl one a minimum 3-1 pattern in nationally ranked tournaments.

I would agree with you totally.

Not always! If it's an absolute flood on the outsides, down and in is definitely NOT the correct choice .

OK lets say there is an absolute flood on the outside and the inside is really dry.  How would a high rev player play that pattern?  Swinging the ball would be a disaster.  First, this is a reverse block.  Second if he tried to swing the ball with his high revs and played tight there would be no control.  Next if he tries to swing into the oil the ball just skids too far.  I have played on this type of condition many times and swinging is not the way to score on this type of pattern.

If you feel i'm wrong then just give an example of how a high rev player would play this.

The down and in shot with an end over end release is proabably the best style for this pattern.  The gutter shot is a lso a possability.  If the oil is so heavy that no ball will hook then it's time to point it from the corner.

I have seen high rev players and have myself tried to match the equipment to play deep and tight.  This type of condition is justy too hard to play swinging the ball.

Sorry dude, gotta pull you up on this one.

down and in isnt always the correct choice, I have a higher rev/speed shot (I max out at around 500) and I play sports shots better than most house shots. the key to playing with high revs on tough shots is a consistent release. If you can generate consistent revs/speed/tilt/shot direction, you can bowl on anything.

I also find that higher rev bowlers need equipment to MATCH UP better to them. Drillings, surface and ball selection is more important than with straighter bowlers. It has nothing to do with the pattern they are bowling on. You are stereo typing the house hack, not a high rev bowler

If your saying that you can score well always swinging the ball with a high rev release on all lane patterns that is just not true.  When you see Robert Smith playing the second arrow on a lane pattern then that is telling you the swing shot is not there for scoring.

I will just agree to disagree with you on this point.

I would play this 1 of 2 ways.

highly polished ball, get it to go as long as possible inside, and keep it inside 10.

Early rolling ball, get it to check up , and roll towards pocket, changing wrist and finger positions to stay in pocket and carry.

Pretty simple for anyone that knows what they are doing. AGAIN ill stress that you are thinking of a high rev house hack, not someone that knows what they are doing.

kinda like this:

http://www.totalbowling.com.au/media/tim_mack_01qldcupkoolfoam.mpg

I said for the high rev release.  If you reread my original post reply about this I said he would have to change hand position and rev rate to play this pattern with consistency.

I am thinking of some one that knows what there doing.  On conditions like this playing the dry inside with a polished ball is going to cause extreme reaction at the break point and send the ball to places unknown.

Now using an early rolling ball and having it walk into the pocket is fine if you lower your rev rate a lot.  Plus you wouldn't need an early rolling ball because the dry lanes will cause the ball to roll early.  Of course that all depends on how dry were talking.

In know what your saying believe me.  Your thinking well this is easy just find out where the oob is and play inside of that.  Lets say it's 10 to the gutter.  Well just stand deep and play out to 12 to 15.  simple right?  Wrong not on a true reverse block where the inside is dry as a desert and the out side is flooded.  All balls thrown from deeper inside lines out to an area before the OOB will over react.  You may hit the pocket but not consistantly.  Next if you happen to miss the and touch the OOB the ball skids too long.

I have been taught and from experiance the best way for me to play these conditions is too use a down and in approach.  The end over end release is the release of choice on this type of pattern.

This is my opinion.  Maybe you have a better approach for this.  I tend to play it safe and try to find the consistant line.  I'm not going to force the lane pattern to adjust to my style.  I would rather play what the lane gives me.  That's just me.  I would rather take the easy route on that pattern.

Like I said we will agree to disagree on this topic.

Hey Chitown,

You seem to be the High rev expert even claiming to be a High rev player yourself.

WHERES YOUR VIDEO!!!!!

Oh yea.   You wont get one!

Some Expert

I'm going to make a vid as soon as I buy a camcorder.  Hope fully soon.  Yes I consider myself a power tweener.

Where did I say I was a high rev expert?  Is it strange to you that I have a decent rev rate.  I'm not a super cranker and never have claimed to be.  Nor do I wish to be.  I can rev it up to the cranker revs but can't bowl for crap doing that.  Now with pwer tweener revs it's controllable.

Listen why are you trying to discredit me.  It sounds like your calling me a liar.  Now when I do post a vid of myself and you can see fore your self my style what then?  Does it matter.  If I showe you that I have hand will that make you accept me.

This discussion is about the high rev release on a reverse block condition.  I wouldn't comment on it if I didn't have a decent amount of hand.  Dude grow up!

Chi,
Tim Mack could rev the ball pertty well.
Don't know if his shoulder has healed up.
Great international bowler.

As far as playing a reverse block goes, a high rev player can play a reverse block if the bowler is accurate and had a consistent release.
