Roll to Riches-Barnes Choke
« on: May 05, 2006, 09:29:17 AM »
So, I think this proves that he chokes under pressure.  I can't believe he won with a brooklyn.  I hate scroggins, but I feel bad for him.  Thats the worst way to lose.  I am not saying Chris is not a great bowler, but he isn't that great under pressure.  If he ever gets that problem fixed, he would be right up there with TJ>

On an easy pattern I think all of these guys shirt collors got a little tight at times. Barnes hasn't got the greatest personality in the world but when and if he ever gets his mental game in line he will dominate. Although earlier in the season when TJ had to move left in front of the ballrack and take just three steps and still shot well was very impressive. Getting back to the Roll to Riches, it was very funny that Scroggins got beat on a shot that was thrown "like a league bowler".

He just finished winning over $330000 in 3 weeks!

In the old days he used to screw ball into the foul line resulting in going high and splits etc.

It's over...he is throwing the ball beautifully on TV and finally got a break... that is how he will be thinking going forward.

He is ready to realize his talent.  You are talking old news!

I am not saying anything about Karl Malone choking, but maybe a better person or team to bring up is the Atlanta Braves, they are the poster boys for choking in the postseason.I am not saying Karl Malone chokes or doesn't choke,I just think Atlanta is perfect example of playing great in the care free June games against Pittsburgh or any other terrible team, but when it comes time to play a REAL game against a tuff team in October, might as well say good night Gracie.

Therion,

Occassionally...bump... split high(yes he was hooking it) but I don't know what I'm talking about...

You do!  That's why he won all the time back then because his technique was perfect.

I made a positive comment about his improvement and positive results and I'm on crack...good comment!

Barnes stepped up in each round.  Every one of the bowlers in that tournament choked at one point or another.  Look for someone else to bash.

"So, I think this proves that he chokes under pressure."

"he won with a brooklyn"

If he choked under pressure he would have lost, but instead he won therfore he didn't choke. When you look at the scoreboard after a brooklyn strike do you see a big B beside it?

Give me a break. This is not the first time this has happen. It's part of bowling. How many have hit Brooklyn just doing league and got away with it. Every pin count, whether team or individual competition.Barnes is still one of the top 10 players in the World to me. I say go to the bank take out a loan and make an open challenge to him. Winner take all and we all know who will win.
It's all part of the game. I remember one bowler said, you need some lucky shots on tour. It's all part of the game.

I tell you what... if tossing a brooklyn is choking, I'd rather choke out a 300 with 12 brooklyns than toss 4 nasty splits in a game.

Since when does a brooklyn strike considered choking?  I thought the objective in bowling is to knock down ten pins.  Who give a hoot how there knocked down.

You can choke and win by doing what barnes did.  you miss your mark by 7 boards and get lucky for the brooklyn.  he choked under the pressure, but got a lucky break to win.

Well what about the guy he was bowling against in the finals?  I guess he choked as well.  He didn't throw 6 strikes in a row or 6 strikes in the finals to beat Barnes so I guess he's a choker.

What about all of the other guys that were in that tourney?  Are they all chokers?  Barnes was under the same pressure as them and how many did Barnes throw in a row.  I think he had like 10 strikes in a row before his first miss.  I guess that's choking also?

Dude your really just showing that you don't like Barnes and don't want to give him credit.

Just like the other poster said.  How can he be called a choker and win?  The object of the game is to knock down 10 pins.  Barnes threw like 10 strikes in a row during that tourney in which none of the other bowlers threw that many in a row.

The first Roll to Riches Barnes won he threw 6 strikes in a row for the win.  This time he threw 6 strikes not in a row for the win.  The last strike went brooklynn because he missed his mark and is considered a choker?  Dude your nuts!
