I just heard a rumor that Brian Voss will retire.  I know he has some injury issues. Man, I hope he is not done yet.

Well, on yesterday's telecast he said that he will be going more into the business side of the game and only bowling part time. He has dealt with injuries, but the decision is mostly fueled by the fact that he lost his exempt status. He could try to get it back by going through Tour Trials, but it didn't really sound as if he was planning to do so.

I also heard he has a clothing line?  does he own or endorse NXT's?  I remember and interview with RP couple of years ago?  Not sure when exactly, but BV buy $200 slacks!  Must be silky smooth

I read in the PBA forum that BV may sneak in the exempt field due to injuries and Tim Criss retiring. I believe that he was only 2 spots from the exempt field.

Given his public statements about the state of bowling today it wouldn't surprise me in the least if BV took this chance to retire.

He was actually the first spot out. So, he could very well get in - but his attitude during the interview, and when I talked with him in Medford, is that he's tired - and not upset at all about losing his exemption.

I find it odd that they never mentioned Criss' retirement yesterday.  They went out of their way to interview Voss about being one spot out of the cut line (which is only 39 because Mineman won and is far below the cut), but never said anything about Criss.

They did mention Dino Castillo, and I didn't pay enough attention to what they said.  Dino is 40, Voss is 41.  Dino has an exemption two ways, both as the high non-exempt bowler and, if they cut Criss, he's in 39th.  Depending on what order they choose to award exemptions, Voss could get in.  If they call Dino the top non-exempt first, then with Criss out, Voss moves into the exempt list.  If they don't, then Castillo is exempt through points and Ronnie Russell (?) is the new non-exempt points leader.  I'll have to watch it again.

i have to admit that BV is a great bowler, not my type of style tho

from my point of view he doesnt like the way that the PBA is running and he couldnt adjust to the new technology, or match up so instead of keep making the cut and tire himself, he chose to retire and do some business.

as Norm said "i'll retire when i feel i cant bring home money from bowling" or something like that

yeah , his time has past along with his demeanor. Come on the road has to be long for someone like him and a few others. Decades on the road can make anyone a bit burnt. BV have a good retirement, please!!
