Some observations from US Open @ Carolier last night:
« on: April 03, 2009, 10:25:27 PM »
Just some random observations:

1.  Robert Smith opening with an Emerald Vibe.  Also using a Hyroad, then Cherry Vibe during the block, while still wearing the Elite and rolling Elite bags.  (Hey, elite makes a good 3 ball roller, I guess)

2.  Mike Devaney abandoning the Sarge Easter grip.  Not sure hw long its been, but Mike had regular fingertip in LI last week, now this week at Open.

3. Amleto Monacelli is throwing it great.  He's in great shape, and he is in great position for today.

4.  If we want to teach our kids to bowl:  Richie Wolfe would be a good guy to emulate.  I can't believe he didn't do more in his career.

5.  Mike Scroggins is great.  I don't care what he looks like, or how many boards he crosses, the man is a great bowler.  When everyone was pulling their hair out, (well I guess he can't pull his hair out), he was plugging along, putting the ball in the 1-2, staying clean, winning matches.  Very underrated..

6.  Local talent Sean Riccardi, in front of a big rooting section, beating Rhino Page and Co, shooting 254 in his last game to put in a respectable night against the worlds best.

7.  The bowling center is in great shape.  If you haven't seen it, you guys should plan a trip and come out here for this tournament.  It's great time.

Great reporting jbruno6!

I didn't know the Open was back at Carolier. If I had, I might have meade the trip up to see those guys roll!

I have fond memories of that house. I rolled some of my best sets ever, in a TNBA tournament there 4 years ago! Absolutely great facility, and the people who run it are always gracious and friendly!

Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!
