Depends. What's my average that I bowled these off of?

Well seeing how its a pba event I would guess you would be in the 190+ average range.
-
I probably would have lit myself on fire after the 112 game, or faked a heart attack, something to get me out of there with my dignity. Seriously, we have all been there, I can feel for you.

Depends on how tough the shot was I suppose.

Well, I meant if you were a 200 average or 230 (something like that). For the 200 guy it'd be quite embarassing, while for the 230 guy it'd be earth shatteringly embarassing.

no, as long as they thought they got their $500 entry fee worth, LOL

The reason why I was asking is because yes someone bowled these scores at the last (national) pba tourney and was the second to last place finisher. I would assume he is atleast a 194 and up bowler seeing how he was allowed to bowl in the first place but what can you take away from a performance so horrific. I remember my first pba experience I didnt do so great but I didnt embareass my self either. I averaged a whopeing 185 across for 8 games and got a reality check but was only 7 pins out of last to cash average which was 192 which = 56 pins. I realized I needed a little work on a few things and needed more practice on the ditch shot.

TS, you reamed this guy an new one. Now, is there anyone else that needs put down for bowling bad. Since you are so good, maybe you could offer to coach.
At least he went out there and tried.

I've seen a lot, and i mean a lot, of people come out to bowl the PTQ's just strictly for the experience and the chance to say that they did it. The PTQ is the perfect arena for somebody to do that since the entry fee is lower, the field isnt nearly as strong, and the crowds are smaller.
I watched this guy bowl a little......i say go for it if thats what you want to do. My only advice to guys like this is to know the rules, above anything else. The last thing you want to be is a distraction to those around you, because you may be crossing with or next to somebody that is bowling for a living instead of the fun of it
......and by the way, there are no average restrictions to bowl a PTQ as a non-member, so this guy could have been a below 190 average bowler. Besides, he picked a bad week to bowl because the pattern certainly wasnt easy

Shark was definitely a rude awakening for me the first time! Looks like you bowled fairly well this week though, Jeff. Nice Job.
I bowl several regional events per year as a guest and see what Jeff describes. There are also bowlers who may average 200+ on a house shot, but have never ventured into the arena of more challenging lane conditions. Simply put, prior to bowling the event, they just don't know what they don't know.
I respect them for taking the challenge with their head up and shoulders back, regardless of scores, knowing that others will be watching. I have even more respect for those who go back to the drawing board, improve their game, and come back out ready to fire again.

I dont really see it as reaming him a new one but your entittled to form your own opinion about what I said. To add to what jeff said I didnt know you could bowl ptq regardless of avg or skill level. I guess it might be a way of keeping the entries up. yes I am good but I dont have to come on here and tell every one about it though, I let my bowling do my talking for me. I also coach every once in awhile also when I am asked to help someone out. I was asking if anyone would be embareassed if they bowled these scores, My reason for asking is to see why they would feel this way and what they would do if so. I personaly could care less if it were me that bowled bad because I would know why I did. Thats the part that is missing from this is the reason why he did so poorly unless he was a 100 avg bowler then I guess he did great. Was it a lack of experience or know how? Who knows?

if i were the guy and i had fun, why would i be embarassed?
if i see my game is sooooo bad, i would take out my spare ball and shot straight and get the spares
--------------------
I go two-handed, and i hate stupid 10pins! cuz my 12lb spare ball hooks too much!
-
How did you get my league scores? LOL

If I bowled that 112 game, I would of shattered my bowling ball, kicked all my equipment on the lanes, and yelled like never before - especially since I haven't bowled under 140 in like 5 years, even with the house ball with friends LOL!!!

Low scores can happen if you are on a shot that is not familliar in the first place and you aren't sure where to play or how to play, then on top of that the lane transitions and you aren't even playing the right part of the lane anymore. No matter if you are a good spare shooter, it can still happen if you leave enough splits because the ball is running on the nose one shot and coming in light the next.
That is why you have to be able to pay attention to how others are playing the lanes and how their equipment is reacting and try to match what they are doing until you figure it out for yourself.
