majority of today's big hook guys would have been spinners in the early 80's and had to go pretty straight.

Even though many guys today have more hand in the ball now and more revs their ball speeds are much too high for them to get those plastic balls to bite like that... they would have had a hell of a time

NO true. Hell, around here in the late 80's early 90's, I threw a blue dot most of the time, and couldn't throw it hard enough. With todays equipment and a bum shoulder, I was around 18mph last season. SO 20 yrs ago, I was easily 20mph.

I don't know Rev-O... do you really think Tommy Jones, Wes Malot and Robert Smith could be as consistent and good as Handley is there? No doubt they would get hook but would they be good at it (should have re-phrased the other post). Still think they would just have a hell of a time

edit: looks like Handley's ball speed here is about 16-17mph for the record

Jeff Bellinger still bowls? How does his style from the 80's work today? He threw it so slow and put so much loft and spin on it I would think he would hit the 7 pin every time. But in this video he is throwing it faster then all the ones I've seen when he was using urethanes in later years.
