Wow. My heart goes out to Steve Harman...
« on: March 07, 2008, 11:38:31 AM »
Had a 3-0 lead on Jack Jurek, Jurek comes back to tie it at 3-3, and the match comes down to the 10th frame. Jurek goes X9/. Harman gets the first strike, which he had to have. After that, 8/ ties and 9/ wins -- and he gets 7 on his first ball to lose by 1 (actually 2 after he failed to convert the spare).

I like Jack but I was hoping to see another newbie on TV.

I was sitting in front of my monitor watching the live scoring trying to hex him through the internet.  It failed.

I was too, but that's because Mika's on my fantasy team and Mike's not.

If so he deserved the win!

Steve,

Good to hear you've got a sense of humor about it, anyway. That kind of attitude will win you fans. I'm a big Del Ballard fan in large part of the infamous gutterball he threw -- or more specifically, the way he handled himself in the weeks thereafter. (For those who don't remember, Del made a commercial for Rolaids or Tums the next week talking about how he "sure could have used some" after throwing one in the gutter, which I thought was classy, hilarious and poignant all at the same time.)

Steve, if you don't mind giving details, what happened?

The previous week, I needed the first hit in the tenth and grabbed it bad.  Last week, I needed the first two.  I absolutely pured the first one.  On the second, I just guarded against grabbing it and just miss hit it.  Using it as a learning experience and focusing on Long Island now.

Thanks for the reply. The only chance I've had yet at a 300, I did the same thing -- didn't want to pull it, so I got soft with it at the bottom and left the bucket.

Good luck in Long Island!
