Women bowlers and revs....
« on: November 01, 2007, 05:18:14 PM »
I was just watching a couple of PWBA vids on good ole' Youtube and I heard some of the revs that was mentioned:

Shannon O'Keefe - 276 Revs

Kristal Scott - 289 Revs <<<<<< and shes a total hottie

I often here on BR that some of these women produce more revs then most of the guys on here. I think the people that says that must have there head in the sand.

Any guy with a good release should be able to produce 300 Revs off hand I would think ?

Yes/No ?!

No....most houses will kill if you put that much on it. Less is more, take a look at your typical league.

"any guy with a GOOD release" -- you answered your own question in a way. How many bowlers on BR have a truly good release, and how many bowlers in your typical league do?

With that in mind, it's easy to see how the women on TV have more hand than "most" or "some" folks on BR/in a league. The vast majority of bowlers don't have good releases, and that's a fact. You've got to realize -- good bowlers are a minority. Then, you've got top amateurs. Even more of a minority. Pros? Well, you get my point. Those professional women are such a select group...

Also, keep in mind that many folks overestimate their rev rates.

O'Keefe also has worn a wrist support whenever I've seen her bowl, one that really limits her ability to really hit it with some revs through quick wrist movement like most of the men do.  And it results in possibly a more consistent release, but a lower rev rate.  It's right around the ballpark of the upper end of my rev rate (and I also wear a wrist support), so that number sounds about right.

Thnaks for the replies guys !

For me haveing been to Kegal (I live in FL about 2 hour drive from there) and  been tested on the CATS system I think I see what you mean about over est your revs.

Just to me it seems like 250-300 would be a low number for a guy. On both of my money leagues I bowl on, there quite a few guys that have a nice release and I would say they are in the Parker Bohn level. (Round about 330-350).

I guess sometimes I get caught up in reading peoples posts, responses and advice given on here, then I watch a video that they post or in their profile and just laugh...lol
