I have bowled on both Offense and Defense in my league house over the past couple of years, and I don't have anything good to say about either oil. I absolutely hated the Offense, and the Defense carried down so bad that the center owner was more than happy to switch to another brand of oil.....the Defense carrydown was giving the mechanics fits, and the number of problem calls skyrocketed with Defense....of course, you have to remember that he was running 42 feet of Defense, which was way too long for such an oil.
Now Kegel has come out with Prodigy, which is supposed to be the best of both Offense and Defense. I know that we are fixing to get a test run on the Prodigy, but I am not looking forward to it at all.....I foresee many problems with the Prodigy, if it is anything like Offense or Defense.
For my money, Neo Tac makes two of the best lane oils out there. Their Black Gold and Black Gold HV (high viscosity) are two of the best oils going today. The Black Gold does NOT carry down at all, even though you can see what appears to be carrydown on the backends. The residue that does carrydown onto the backends doesn't impair the hooking capability of the backends.
