"After 18 consecutive years of a barter arrangement with ESPN the network decided it was time to insist on a time-buy of $165,000 per show", wrote sanders. "In addition, ESPN was forcing the PWBA to move all of its shows to ESPN 2, all would be tape-delayed, and they would not be broadcast in a consistent and consecutive timeslot."

Sanders, who has spent a lot of time and money attempting to purchase the PWBA, doesn't understand ESPN decision after 18 successful years. Sanders admits that he is "personally disappointed, but more so for the fine young women bowlers that now will not be able to aspire to becoming a professional bowler."

Sanders will now continue to expand the Mini-Eliminators and Senior tournaments like the Brunswick Senior World Open.

Wonder if the PWBA would have any chance of getting on Fox Sports Net if ESPN doesn't think enough of it to give them a chance, I'm sure we would happily take our ratings and viewership over there.  I know not the same, but at least they could get on the air somewhere.

I personally wasn't aware of the problems until recently. I did get an initial response tonight. Here's a portion of it.

I agree 100% with lefty.  In a time when being gay is thrust down our throat, reality is only about 10% of the people are gay.  This does not bode well when you are selling a product.  If 10% of the people would normally watch bowling and you take 90% away because of the connotations that some of the PWBA members give it doesn't make sense to put them on.

Actually, its only about 2-4% of the population; you've already bought into the wrong propaganda.  It's like the mistaken believe that African-Americans account for a percentage of the population that is roughly double their actual percentage.

The PWBA's problems were show quality and image.  They didn't see the game as entertainment.  That is what it is on the professional level.  Entertainment.

I personally don't think they have to sell their azzes. But I do think it would be a great idea to drop the uniform matron look and go with a little more individuality. Maybe this girl doesn't like slacks and a polo shirt but likes a skirt and brightly colored shirt. Things are also to distant both the video and the girls. Open up a little, let people in, give them a reason to root for this one over that one. It was way to mechanized.
