BOWL THE ROGUE OPEN REMOVED FROM 2003 SCHEDULE
Status of Fall Season to be Announced August 8

ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS  - The Professional Women's Bowling Association announced today that the Bowl the Rogue Open, scheduled for September 14-18 at the Showtime Family Lanes, will be removed from the 2003 PWBA Fall Schedule.

"With the tour's financial status still pending, Showtime Family Lanes was unable to wait any longer to see if the Fall schedule was still a go," said PWBA President John Falzone.

Showtime Family Lanes Proprietor Dean Kerr said, "It's with great regret that we had to be removed from the schedule but unfortunately we had to make a tough decision.  Our bowling center would've loved to host this event because we're all huge fans of the PWBA."

On July 13 Falzone used the tour's ESPN telecast to announce that the 2003 PWBA Fall schedule may have to be cancelled due to insufficient operating funds and that a final decision would be announced on August 8.  Today, Falzone stated the August deadline has not changed.

With the Bowl the Rogue Open removed from the Fall swing, the 2003 season would start with the Storm Challenge, September 21-25, hosted by the Victor Bowl, in Victorville, Calf.  The final two tournaments would be the Greater San Diego Open (Sept. 28 thru Oct. 3) at the Admiral Robinson Recreation Center, in San Diego, Calif. and the Wheelchair Awareness Classic, hosted by Country Club Lanes, in Mesa, AZ.  A special event is also scheduled for either the week of Oct. 5 or Oct. 12.

The Professional Women's Bowling Association, founded in 1981 as the Ladies Professional Bowlers Tour, provides a professional tournament program for the most skilled women bowlers in the world.  The PWBA's key sponsors include the Women's International Bowling Congress (WIBC), Pepsi-Cola, Miller Brewing, BowlersParadise.com, and more than a dozen other bowling industry sponsors.
