PWBA US open WOW
« on: June 29, 2018, 12:17:57 PM »
I was traveling for business yesterdayin Florida and while passing by Orlando I headed to Boardwalk bowl and walked into see some talent!  The PWBA Woman's US open.

All I have to say is WOW!  The talent level is fantastic. The shot was tight at the corners and tough.  Very few spares were missed and yet washouts and splits were frequent due to the slippery corners.

I saw this article!

http://pwba.com/News/In-the-News/mccarthy-climbs-into-us-womens-open-lead-after-first-round-of-match-play.

Was I at the same tournament?!  The buzz over the throwing prowess of the assembled 24 talents was about Sandra Gongora from Mexico!  What hand!  What speed, what effortless power and what a steady head and all from a compact package!  NOT EVEN mentioned in the article!  Yet look at standing!

http://scores.bowl.com/2018USWO/MatchPlay1.pdf

Erin McCarthy the leader after games 39 and 40 has similar hand and less speed maybe by choice that day!?  I don't know.

Where has this talent been hiding at age 33?   (I know the Mexico team as I accessed the PWBA player profile page!).

I am reminded of when I first saw the wonderful powerful Driver golf swing of Minjee Lee at age 18 at a woman's progolf tournament. I wondered when she would win!  Now 4 wins on the LPGA!

If you get a chance to see Sandra, or these great bowlers TAKE it!  I found this quickly on youtube and felt a throw at 3:04 minute mark was similar to what I saw.
Maybe a straighter backswing today!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKfrTjz1xsc

I understand, pressure, lane matchups, and match play are all elements of the pro game, but I saw nothing that this girl didn't have today!  I compare to one of my favorites Daria Pajek who I watch on YouTube and try to copy her drills.  (They don't look as good but I'm learning).

Her revs are in the same zipcode very close to 400 and she has endless effortless speed if she wants it!  Kudos to the strong hammer equipment she was using at the end of the day Either the Scandal/S (sanded), or the Rid/D solid(something Blue/Orange and strong)  It allowed her to free arm it like none other on the shot and make it look like a house shot!

Keep an eye out for this talent!

Kudos also to bowlers I was very little familiarity with!
1.  Jordan Richard(powerhouse winner from last week!)
2.  T. Seraus.
3.  Liz Kulkin.
4.  Missy Parkin who's game I never loved on TV, great in person!

I am dying to see how this all plays out and have my VCR programed to tape Sat the 30th with excitement.

Anyone know where the talent Sandra Gongora has been hiding in relation to the PWBA tour?

Regards,

Luckylefty

I got to see the ladies in Mechanicsburg, PA two weeks ago and I agree, Sandra is extremely impressive. Many others were awesome to watch as well.

This was my first thought also.

Sandra has always been good.  As the tour gets older you will see more of the women who lost some time with the absence of the PWBA.  It is hard to commit to the type of schedule the PWBA has when you started a career and possible family.  A lot of the better bowlers are out of college holding off on the career and family path and that is why you see them more often.

Sandra Gongora is a eye catcher. But there's another one from Mexico, Aseret Zetter, who is also an eye catcher -- and more. She bowled in the USBC Queens and cashed.
Ball speed avg. (18.25 mph)
Rev rate avg. (400-428 rpm)

There are a lot of younger ladies coming up that are going to be amazing. If you haven't seen them bowling collegiates or in the QubicaAMF World Cup, you are definitely missing out.

Sandra has already been mentioned. Not much more needs to be said there.

Azarette is the same.

Someone already mentioned Theshaina Seraus. She's a native of Aruba, and in her firt outing, made the top 8 in the World Cup. Ended up bowling anchor at Maryland Eastern Shore, in her 3rd PWBA tournament, made the show (beating Anggie Ramirez in the process).

I said it before, and I'll say it again. Verity Crawley has Tammy Turner written all over her.

Maria Bulanova is just now coming up as well; she made the World Cup as a 15 year old, and that was in 2014. She's at Vanderbilt right now, so she could pop up any moment now.

This is all in addition to what we would consider today's legends now, in Shefanie, Liz (Johnson and Kuhlkin), KK, Shannon Pluhowsky, etc.

There's some unbelievable talent coming up on the women's tour that they could even make the Men's tour look tame. And to be honest, I haven't watched the men's tour, outside of a couple of PBA50 tournaments, since Lavoie's 300 on the US Open's show.

No two handed bowling!!! lol

I seriously can’t wait for the first 2 handed women. That’s gonna be the greatest thing to ever come for the PWBA.

I don't mind two handed bowlers! I was referring to dp3 comment about not cheating! That's why I put the lol on it. I figured he was referring to the wrist support and wanted to throw a twist into it! My belief is, if it's available to everyone, then it's not cheating! lol Just my $.02, Bruce

I have enjoyed the comments on this post!

My accidental reference to a VCR has fixated the comentators.  Ok, DVR is what I meant.

Back to the originally scheduled program.  My comments regarding, bowlers refer to great technique.  Free armswing and free speed, consistent loft, revs, and accuracy.  Yes, these girls are HOT, with great bowling technique.

If the question is who is hot?.  Well let me check my VCR and get back to you!  Oops!
