U.S. Open cuts from 260 to 64
« on: May 28, 2003, 09:23:01 AM »
I just got home from tonight's qualifying round.  I hung around long enough to get the sheets with the standings so I could see who made the cut to 64.  Of our two ballreviews participants, kimbo finished the day in 21st; while, alas, michelle missed the cut.  I also met our fellow ballreviews members Jeffrevs, Joey Bag-o-donuts, and rackattack.

I split my time mostly watching either michelle, or my favorite high-potential young player, Keli Rapp.  Keli had a torrid stretch in the second through fourth games of 279-256-279.  Going into the last game, she was +149.  I checked in the tournament office and found out that the cut was likely to be at about +180.  Keli shot 257 to go +206 and finished the day in 55th.

I just checked the PWBA site and it is not yet updated through the last squad.  I'm too tired to list all 64 qualifiers, but here's the top ten, in order:  Kelly Kulick, Cathy Dorin-Lizzi, Maxine Nable, Cheryl Daniels, Wendy Macpherson, Carol Gianotti-Block, Michelle Feldman, Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Rachel Perez, and Jennifer Swanson.  Stars not making the cut were Tish Johnson, Nikki Gianulias, and Dede Davidson.  All the other big name players who entered made the cut.  I was surprised that local hall-of-famer Aleta Sill apparently did not enter.

I remember somebody on the site mentioned that a local favorite, Karen Bowlby, had entered the tournament.  Your girl made the cut at #43.

I'm tired.  Bye.

Thanks for the update Shiv.  43rd is not bad.  She has some work today tough.

I don't really play cards and I am not 79, but it fits together somehow.
