Go, Kelly - she's leading the Women's US Open after 24 games.
(by the way - the pic on the home page of www.bowl.com is taken in one of the shirts we did for her...
)
Top 16 qualifiers that have paid the fee go to the Womens "mini-tour".
Who of the top bowlers of the US Open do you think are going to make it?
Who do you think has paid the $$? I guess 64 women did...

Actually 65 paid, but one withdrew after Tuesday's squad.
I'd like to see Tish Johnson, Missy Bellinder, Robin Romeo, Laura Hardeman, Kim Terrell and Laura Lee Daniels make it to the top 16 all ladies I have had the pleasure of bowling with. Oh and of course our own Tenten

It doesn't appear that Kim Terrell paid the fee. Neither did Linda Barnes, Shannon O'Keefe, and a few others that are in the top twenty.
A friend of mine that's bowling with a wrist injury (Kathy Tribbey) was going to pay the money, but decided not to at the last minute, because the schedule of the actual tour competition made it too difficult for her to leave her job for 4 weeks.
I guess she originally thought she could work 3 days of the week, fly to the competition for 2 days of the week and the weekend, and then fly back. That's not how it's structured, so she pulled out.

The PBA site must be having maintenance. I haven't been able to get on at all this morning. There are a great many good bowlers listed. I'm rooting for everyone, but especially Kelly and Tenten.

Thanks to gobowlingshow.com for the Bowler's Handbooks and Lane # 1 for the balls this year at the Gathering.

I couldn't remember if Kim was on the PBA list and the site was down. It makes sense she didn't go for it with the new position in Delaware as Head Coach (?) and one of the assistant coaches for Team USA her plate is probably quite full.
I'd also like to see Boomer, Liz Johnson, and Wendy Macpherson make it. All are great bowlers and very nice ladies.

Did not see Kendra Gaines bowling. Wonder why.

Yeah Kim was not able to compete because of the new coaching position and her prior coaching position. She is definitely a class act and the tour would benefit from her. But I would like to see Kelly Kulick, Liz Johnson, Wendy, Michelle, Carolyn, Jen Petrick, Missy Bellinder, Diandra, Shannon, Tenille, Tish, Tammy, Stefanie, Clara, Robin Romeo (Sentimental Favorite) and Joy Esterson (Hometown favorite)....These are my top 16, they all bring different looks which i feel will showcase the talent of the women's tour.

Now to see how many of them paid the fees to go to the next step.
I'm glad to see Kim Terrell and Tish Johnson come up a bit from behind. And nice to see Missy hold on.
Congrats to all the ladies who participated, it had to be a tough grind.

I am sure some didn't pay the $750 due to obligations that would prevent them from making the trips necessary to bowl the tour stops.
It is also a big chunk of change for a maybe that could be only 4 stops and nothing more. If it continues or, as is hoped, this is only the start of a revival of some sort of high level competition for the ladies, I would expect to see more take a chance. Just my opinion.

i wonder why Ms. O'Keefe didn't pay the extra $750, nonetheless
$750 on a gamble? That's nearly 1/2 of my monthly income, how do you budget that? You know all the top women are going to be there and you may or may not hold up to the competition, you might be one pin off.
But then it also depends on what your current household budget can allow. If you are living with your folks and paying zero for living expenses then its somewhat easy to say, what about that $750? but if you are like a lot of people that live independantly, $750 is maybe a 1/4 of or 1/2 of their monthly living expenses. If you have the benefit of dual income, or more income, then it is possible.
And then you also have those that the travelling of touring is going to not fit into their lives. They have other obligations that they have committed to. But they have certainly made a stamp with their efforts that they are a force to be contended with, just the timing is bad at that time in their lives.
This competition was close for me. Within 2 hours drive. But the 4 days would deprive me of income for 4 days (basically a week), while taking up expenses for staying out of town, while paying the large expense of entering the competition at its base level. I don't get paid vacations (have not had a vacation in over 6 yaers), I can't afford health insurance, I cannot afford to spend a week in Reno bowling at a high cost in a high cost environment for 4 days. No matter my skill level. I know I'm not versital enough to be a "force to be reckoned with". Heck I couldn't afford to take off a day and drive, spend gasoline, and go see the competition, even though I would have liked to do so. Most if not nearly all of these women are younger then I, I cannot imagine that they have a lot of disposable income at hand. Unless of course they are paid for from parents or other sponsers or have income that they have worked very hard to gain.
There's simply a reality here that needs to be taken into account.
