Drilled this exactly like my Torrid Elite. Ball is similar except it goes longer and more geared for drier lanes.

Just got my 14lb "Monkey" today, here are my initial thoughts:
.
Pattern: Around 40ft, I'm guessing around an average of 24ml.

Layout: Honestly, I'm not completely sure, but it is drilled pin down.

This ball really performs, being the stroker that I am the Grease Monkey fits the bill. It wasn't hooking like I thought it would, but I noticed a LOT of oil on the lanes today. Under medium-dry conditions this ball would perform great, just don't expect "Reax" performance out of the "Monkey". Despite my somewhat slow ball speed, the Grease Monkey shredded the rack consistently. Though it performed best hitting heavy on the headpin. For me the ball was flat through the middles, and stronger down lane. I expect a more well rounded motion under better conditions. The "Monkey" is versatile ball I would recommend to strokers, tweeners, and crankers alike. Through my local pro-shop I got the ball for $120 drilled, which makes the Grease Monkey by far the best ball for the money, at least to me.

Likes: Very smooth motion, and it hits the pins like a bullet train.

Dislikes: Wasn't performing great under heavy oil conditions, but I knew it wouldn't before I purchased it. So no real complaints here.

Overall, the Grease Monkey is an outstanding ball, and for under $150 drilled this ball  should be in every arsenal. If drilled aggressively, the "Monkey" will become a "Grease Monster".

The Grease Monkey is the best value on the market.  Others have said it before me, now I am reiterating this.  7 scores of 280+ since it's release! it's been very tough prying it out of my hands.  The ball is flat awesome.

We tried something different with the drilling on this ball than the other Radical balls which have the finger scoop incorporated.  We kept the same pin distance, but shifted the pin closer to my VAL, which has allowed much more of the core to remain in tact.  This has led to a noticeable increase in, what was already strong, carry percentage.  The cover has been left oob.

For Bowlers: You can get this ball for ~$150-$170 at any shop, and is absolutely worth every penny, pick one up, today!  For those of you who play brackets and jackpots....it will pay for itself, I promise.

For Shop Operators: do yourself a favor and get this ball on your shelf.  Catchy name, from the brand who is chock full of technology...it will move.  Drill one yourself, too!!

This ball most closely compliments the Torrid line, a perfect fit for someone who wants to ball up from a Torrid Affair, and likes the same general shot shape.

If you have any specific questions I may be able to answer, I've added my email address in my signature line.  Contact me, please!

Likes: Prior to joining the Radical Staff I had an IQ Tour Pearl with of which I put the same layout (135 drilling) in my Grease Monkey and the ball turns the corner a lot sharper.  My carry percentage has increased tremendously since adding this ball into my bag.  I highly recommend this ball to everyone for it is extremely bowler-friendly and a great addition for either a rev, stroker, or tweener bowlers' arsenal.  Get Radical baby!!!

LANE CONDITION

Length:hoinkie tournament shot

Volume:hoinkie tournament shot

I drilled the ball with dual angle, 35 x 4 x 35. This ball was great on the later part of the shift. The Grease Monkey was easy to get down the heads and never burned up. It had a lot of power still left entering the pocket with a big bang. All and all the ball is great for league night and late block tournaments.

Likes: Love the addition of the Grease Monkey with its skid/snap reaction to the Radical line up. The Monkey floats through the front part of the lane and has this wonderful pop on the backend with great motion through the pins. The Strengths of this ball are numerous! It handles the Medium to Light patterns with ease. You can multiple angles with it and get the same incredible carry from any of those angles.

Dislikes: The only weakness I’ve seen is that the Monkey doesn’t like heavy oil

Was so happy when this was added to the Radical line up.  The skid snap reaction is money, especially on house shots.  Mine is drilled with the pin in the ring finger and the cg in my palm.  This makes it about a 4" pin for me.  I used 3000 ab pad on it to smooth out the break point.  I'm not sure I've ever had a ball that was cleaner through the heads in my life.  The entry angle is quite impressive and leads to very high carry rates for this price point.  Almost any house shot with dry to the right will create high scores with this ball.  A real home run at this price point, not sure there is a better value on the market.  All the guys in Raleigh here have really noticed how well in rolls.

Likes: This ball is awesome with a great name too....a throwback to the lane man.  In terms of ball reaction the patented swoop core makes this one quite versatile based upon layout.  The one I drilled pin down (45 x 4.5 x 70 with a p3 weight hole) picks up the midlane with a strong continuous motion to the pocket, whereas the one I drilled pin up (70 x 4.5 x 45) gets through the mids clean as a whistle then comes off the dry with an angular motion that nearly breaks the pins.  This ball does not like oil, but if you're on medium to dry conditions, this one is great!!

Dislikes:  Oil.  This ball cannot gain traction when there are higher volumes.

The Grease Monkey is one of the more interesting balls I use. With its symmetric core and polished cover, it definitely works well on drier lanes or chopped up heads resulting from a game or two of league or tournament play.

But, the biggest reason it has found a spot in my arsenal is that it simply bails me out of trouble time after time. If I am struggling to match up to the condition, or am making ball changes that are not working, I have learned to just go to the Grease Monkey.

It has a knack of just working - even when I don't think it is the ball that makes the most sense.

It gets through the heads cleanly and then shows great hitting power at the pins.

In fact, my team mates can frequently be heard saying "isn't it time to get the Monkey out".

And it usually is.

No matter what balls I take to cover the various oil patterns, I usually include the Grease Monkey simply because it works on such a variety of patterns.

Oh, and if you're a hand guy (which I'm not), you can wind this one up as much as you want and still strike until the cows come home.

Great ball by Radical Bowling Technologies.  #wowthatsradical
