Description: The Radical Guru Master lives up to it's name by being a master of total hook in oil. The core/cover combo on this Radical bowling ball offers a strong hook motion with unbelievable continuation at the backend and on through the pins.

Ball Layout: 45 by 4” by 65 with P3 hole
When I first got this ball I wanted to max it out; something to compliment my Thug Unruly (50 by 3.5 by 30) on the seriously long and heavy volume patterns. Also I wanted it to be a bit stronger than my Original Guru (45 by 4.5 by 45). I threw the Master on a house shot just for kicks and it was way too much ball for my rev rate, especially considering my house shot plays on the medium to medium-dry side. However, I wanted to give an honest comparison. Compared to the original Guru, the Master is about 3 boards stronger overall. I contribute most of this difference to the difference in layout. With the same layout, I believe the Master will be about a 1 board stronger overall in the midlane. One difference between the original and the Master is in the time in which the ball begins to laneshine. While my original had a tendency to shine up pretty quickly (thus requiring more routine maintenance to keep the cover fresh and close to box finish), I have not seen that with the Master. On the new 47’ Scorpion pattern, I found success with the Master playing about 12 at the laydown out to 8-9 on the fresh. Despite the strong cover and what I consider a rather early layout for me, the Master gave me a surprising amount of downlane pop. As soon as the heads start to burn up, I have no choice but to put this ball away. It’s just simply too strong in my hands without a good deal of oil in the heads. If you are looking for a ball that will absolutely hook on anything, the new Guru Master should be the only ball for your consideration.

My Guru Mighty is drilled 45* x 4 1/2" x 35* (I've added a dab of factory polish to mine)

For me, this puts the pin above my bridge and the MB is kicked slightly toward my PAP. 

Where do I begin with this review?  I have said this about the 2 previous Guru's (Original, and Mighty)....but wow, this ball hooks, and then just when you think the hooking is completed, it hooks some more.  I have a hard time not repeating myself from what I've said with its predecessors, but geez. 
Let's start from the time you lay the ball down, for being a monstrously strong ball, you'd think it will burn a bit in the front, nope!  When it begins its move on the back, that's just ridiculous.  And, the most impressive (in my opinion) characteristic of this cover/core combo, the way this ball travels through the pins.  This has been a nack for all Guru's, and this ball continues that!
Lane shine has not been an issue.  One of the great advancements Radical and Brunswick have made are new additives in their covers on the latest round of releases.  If you are on a heavy pattern or tournament, you will not need to concern yourself with needing to hit the surface during the tournament (which is likely illegal for that tournament rules).
Sorry for the length of this, but I could not sell this ball short, but a lot of my previous statements about prior Guru's hold true for The Master, but they are taken to a whole new level in terms of hook. 

It's not hype if its true!

I was very surprised of the claim that Mo and Phil were able to make a stronger Guru. Using my favorite layout, this ball is easily a full arrow stronger than my Guru Mighty. If you want the best/aggressive ball in the market, look no further than the Guru Master.

Drilled 90 x 2.25 x 50

I used the this layout to increase the usage on more patterns and not only on high volumes,  what really surprised me was the overall hook.  Based on my speed and axis tilt, this ball actually out performed my original GURU which a had stronger layout, the continuation through the pins was amazing.

Here is the latest addition to the top shelf line, the Guru Master.  If you thought that the original Guru was hooking then wait for the Master!!  For this hooking master, they used the same core as the original Guru but tweeked the coverstock to have more length and backend and to minimise lane shine. 

Because the hook you get in the box, I used a weaker drilling on the master.  I used a 60 x 5 x 40 to clear the heads more easily and get more back end.

On the lane, I left the box finish and the Master hooks more than the first two Gurus.  I had to move me feet 2 boards left and my target on board left.  Compared to my Primo, I had to move 3 left with my feet  and 2 left with my eyes.  Even on a second shift, I was able to get in enough to catch some oil and the ball was still rolling good.  Compared to the Rave, I had to move 5 left with my feet and 3 with my eyes.

The box finish is at 1500 grit but it can easily be adjusted.  For someone with more speed, you can get it down to 500  and still get a great reaction.  For the slower player with less speed you can take it up to 4000 or even ad some polish on it and you will still be able to get a tone of hook and keep the energy in the pins. 

To conclude, the Master is a beast.  If you are having trouble to get the ball moving on slicker pathern, the Master is the solution.  You won’t be able to get something that hooks that much on the market.

Like its predecessor the Guru, the Master is exceptional on oil.  The Master is an extremely aggressive ball that does not stop.  The hook on this ball is just out of this world!!!  I cannot say enough about how it reaches the breakpoint and just turns and turns.  You have a problem with oil get you’re a Master!!

Seriously, I don't know where to start. That ball is the strongest ball I ever thrown. It's impossible to compare anything to that. I drilled the ball 50x5x40 and that ball Hook! I'm an high rev, high speed type of player so I use that ball on heavier oil conditions like medium and long patterns and it's perfect. The Master allow me to miss 1 or 2 boards right without losin an inch of backend. Even on house shot, I just move around the 4th arrow and I can still use that ball. The Guru Master give me lenght and traction to play the center part of the lane with incredible continuation at the backend and through the pins.

That ball is perfect for any player with less revs who wants to hook the lanes and for the higher rev rate player who need a ball to play deeper inside on house shot. And for both type of player, the Master is the ball to choose when you play on heavier oil condition. Never forget one think, there's never, said EVER before a ball hook like that. 62.5/62 on the Bowlers Journal International hook rating scale!!

Likes: This is the sickest ball I have ever thrown. The angles that I can play are amazing. The ball never wavered down lane and continued to drive through the pocket. I drilled this ball pin under with a 45. This is going to be a great ball for patterns and fresh. It will also be a great compliment to the Rave.

I was very impressed when the Guru Master .was released and drilled one up.  This is a Heavy oil ball.  If you are looking for hook on hevy oil this is the ball.  The Guru Master for me is 7 and 2 more for me than the  Mighty and Original Guru.
It was way too strong on the house shot in my home center.   I tried it on a heavier volume  47 foot pattern and the ball recovered without a problem from deep inside line.
 If you are a low rev player this ball is perfect for you.  It will let younopen your angles up and still trust the balls recovery.  If you do not have one yet I would strongly suggest adding it to your arsenal.

I drilled this ball to take on the heavier oil lane conditions.  When I first threw the Master down the lane I was impressed.  The ball seemed to recover when I pitched it and sat just long enough when I pulled it.  Don't get me wrong, there were boundaries to that.  Any ball you throw has them. 

I have now thrown the ball for about 5 games during league and I still love it.  I threw it on a fresh oil shot for 3 games and the ball reacted beautifully.  I was standing about 6 boards left on the approach and 4 boards left on the lane than my Vandal throwing to the same spot (about 7 board).

I see myself throwing this ball a lot.

Since the Guru Master is such a strong ball, I wanted to try something a little different with the layout.  I went with one of the lower flaring layouts (90 x 2 1/4 x 45) so that I would be able to use it on a wider range of conditions.  Even with the lower flare layout, this ball is still very strong.  At the box surface of 500/1500, it was too strong for our house shot.  Tried various surface combinations and settled on 500/3000.  The Master does a great job of blending the lanes and is a monster on the fresh.  Thanks to the lower flaring layout, I am able to stay with the Master much longer than expected for a strong ball.  Carry has been exceptional and the cover holds its surface better than any ball I have ever used.  If you are looking for a strong ball for heavy oil, there is no better option.

This brings hook (currently) to the next level. This by for the biggest hooking ball out there, for now. Compared to the previous two Guru releases, this ball is earlier and a little bit smoother. The extremely drilling versatile core offers a wide range of drilling options benefiting every type of bowler. I personally have been using the continuous and low flare layouts with lots of success. 60/3.75/30, 80/2.5/45 and 100/1.25/60. Lots of hook and EXTREME hit, smoother and less hook with strong hit and super smooth and straight hook with big hit. See Mo for more details as these layouts of PAP specific.

Likes: This ball was phenomenal. I am a lower rev, high speed player, but on this pattern, I could use my speed, and with a Motion Hole on the top of the ball, I was able to get through the carrydown that came from the later part of the day. I was also able to play more right than everyone else for longer, just because of the way my axis rotaiton, speed, and rev rate.
