BOWLER STYLE

Rev Rate: 400

Ball Speed: 18.5

PAP/Track: 4 9/16 right 1/4 up

LANE CONDITION

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): High Volume THS

Layout 90 x 2 1/4 x 50

There is only one word that describes this ball...MONSTER. This ball chews through heavy oil with a better motion through the pins that I have ever seen before. This ball is incredibly clean through the front part of the lane for a huge solid coverstock. If you do not have one of these in your bag for heavy oil lane conditions you are at a disadvantage. The energy that this ball transfers through the pins is truly unbelievable for a ball this strong. This ball runs over the 8 pin more then any ball I have ever seen of this type. Stop by your local pro shop and grab the strongest ball in the industry.

I drilled my Guru 50 x 5 x 40...and was instantly shocked by the amount of continuation that the ball has for as strong as it is.  Most "big ball" asymmetrics tend to lay off once they see friction...but not Guru...Guru only stops hooking when it finds the back of the Pit.  This is great, though I was skeptical at first over how useful something that strong might be, it still floats through the fronts with relative ease.  It's a go to ball to blend out the back part of the lane on over under house shots...on top of its place as the ball on longer heavy volume patterns.

The Guru is a piece that will surprise you. It is a hook monster with a lot of control. On a medium length Sport compliant pattern the Guru was outstanding on the fresh and was able to read the pattern very well. I was able to stay on the ball for longer than I thought even through some breakdown in the heads. On a typical house shot it easily goes coast to coast allowing me to open up the lane staying left of most players. It does a nice job of blending the over/under typically found on most house shots. Radical has a winner here and the ball sells itself! All you have to do is watch it on the lane and nothing more needs to be said. Fits well into my arsenal as a go to ball when I need something strong that is reliable and can cut through the oil. The shape on the lane is surprisingly clean through the front with a solid mid–lane read and huge move on the back-end. Very controllable and huge hook potential.

The Guru is one great hook monster!!! It gets down the lane well for a strong ball. I used layout A (50×4×40), I used a shorter pin to PAP than suggested. I've been using it on our league shot which is wtba tokyo. This ball gives just a nice move off the pattern to kill the pocket.

If you have 1 ball to buy in this second part of the season and want plenty of hook without sacrificing carry, look no further. Wow, thats Radical!!

The Radical Guru is a powerful ball that can be used in a variety of ways. Around here, most seem to use it for max power even though the cover is very tunable and you can create length by altering the finish.

I like this ball so well I usually take two with me. One is high flare (C layout) which really makes a big move and I like when playing deeper on the lane (although, surprisingly, it also works anywhere around the tenth board as well).

The other is a bit milder (D layout) and is designed to hook less but still hit really well.

Also, depending on where I'm bowling, I usually have these two at different finishes - if you're serious about your bowling, it really pays to have a ball spinner at home.

The Guru is so powerful that you won't always be able to use it. But, that's OK. I don't want every club in my bag to be a "driver".

But, when I need power, I will generally use of the my two Gurus.  #wowthatsradical

The Guru is the most hooking ball on the market. PERIOD. Just take few minutes to take a look a the two videos Reality Vs Perception (part 1 and 2) to see plenty of reason why that ball is a beast!

For my part, I drilled it 60x4 1/4x70 with a kind of double thumb. I just want that ball to be the strongest in my back and the only thing I can say is: Mission accomplished!
With the pin down layout, I can control the backend with a lot of motion down the lane and a lot of entry angle for a solid ball. I can play that ball on a lot of different pattern but the main reason is to play on longer and/or heavier shot. I was really surprise by the continuity through the pins that ball have. It seems that it never stops.

The coverstock offer great durabilty and response to surface change. Don't be scared, ajust the surface and you will be amaze by the way it response.

Try it is to adopt it.......you will never regret!!

COMMENTS it's a money maker! I have two. One is factory cover pin up and one is shined pin down. Both roll different and great.

Radical Guru

Ball is drilled  90X2 1/4X25  Box Finish                              Tested on 39Ft Sport Pattern

All I can say about this ball is HOOK HOOK AND MORE HOOK.  This ball is unbelieveable !!!  even for how I layed this ball out, this ball is extrtemely strong.  But the one thing with this ball is that it doesn’t quit at all.  The roll on this ball is very strong, but still have a lot of energy in the back part of the lane.  And when it hits the pins, it is like you are throwing a 20lbs ball, this ball hits hard from what I have seen with it.  With the layout that I have on this ball it allows me to be very versatile on what I can do with it.  when I tested in on the 39 ft sport pattern, I could easily play straight with this ball, or I could get in on the lane and hook it and it would jump hard off the spot, just a strong continuous arcing motion that this ball has.  This ball read the pattern very well without giving up energy for the backend.  I didn’t change the box surface on it as I wanted to try OOB and see what happened.  I think I may order another Guru and drill it very aggressive.  And I will definently compare this ball to the Thug Unruly when I get it. For the lower rev guys looking for a lot of hook, here is the ball you will want to drill.   For the higher rev players, it will be a great ball for those heavier and longer patterns,  and as it shows on some of the videos, this ball out hooks the competition.  I will try to post some videos of the balls that I have drilled.

Thank you DV8, Brunswick, Radical for giving me the opportunity to represent your companies.

Likes:  This is a little overdue but I've been really impressed with the versatility of this ball.  It certainly is the "hook monster" that everyone claims but has proven to be very tunable as well, when it comes to surface changes.  I've been able to get it to fit nicely on a number of different lane conditions and lane surfaces with simple surface adjustments.  The other thing that has really stood out to me is the hitting power of this ball.  The sound that it makes going through the pins is like nothing else out there at the moment.  While I haven't thrown the Mighty yet, I was fortunate to see both the Guru and the Guru Mighty up against each other this past weekend and was very impressed.  They seem like an excellent compliment to each other and I can't wait to get a Mighty in my bag as well.

Dislikes:  None at this time...maybe the fact that I'm going to have to drill a couple more to fill out the Nationals arsenal?

My Guru is drilled 45* x 4 1/2" x 35*.  For me, this puts the pin above my bridge and the MB is kicked slightly toward my PAP.

So, where do I begin with this review?  Have you seen The Video?  It's not hype if its true.  This ball is a flat out hook monster!  Out of the box, before throwing this ball, I added a bit of compound by hand....just to take a bit of the dull look off the ball.  For my eye, I thought there is no way this ball won't hook at my toes.  Wouldn't ya know, I was way wrong!  I've had this ball glossed up with 4000 and polish, and I've had 1000 on this ball.  The shell and core match up SO WELL together, it rolls really great with any cover prep I've had on this bowling ball!

Now, some balls are just special, they have a knack for knocking over pins.  High hits carry the 4/6, shots that you might miss a little at the bottom still kick out the 7/10.  This is THAT ball.  Without going into more detail, I could stop now and just say those words, "This ball knows how to knock pins over".....but I'm not going to, I will elaborate.

This ball travels through the pins so well, due to the cover and core matching up so well, when drilled properly the energy transitions at just the right time.  This is a really really good bowling ball!

I'm super excited each time I throw this ball.  So many good bowling balls that have been produced from Radical Bowling Technologies, I have to cycle through which ball I want to give "first dibs" to, out of the bag.

The Radical Guru is one of my favorite solid balls of all time. The Guru is just plain fun to use on house conditions where the middles are flooded. While everything else will skid through the puddle, the Guru continues to dig, then flips hard when it meets the down lane friction. With my Guru drilled pin above the bridge, I can open up the lanes as much as I want, and I never have a doubt of it making it back to the pocket. If I miss right into the friction a little early, it will flip over and roll its way into the pocket. If I give it a little tug into the oil, it will hold line, then flip and drive hard through the pins. I also have a Guru drilled pin under the bridge, which rolls very strong and predictable on heavier volume patterns. There simply is no other choice, if you have lots of oil to overcome, get the Radical Guru to guide you through!

man this ball hooks a ton. love the colors on the ball black with orange lettering. with our house being med oil had to put  some polish on the ball. it made it down lane easy, but with my med speed and med/high revs was hard to keep rolling it all 3 games. with the polish I was able to use it all 3 games.

Likes:how hard it hits and colors

Dislikes:really none after added polish

If you are looking for a heavier oil ball that won't quit, then the Guru is a great choice. The Guru is the strongest ball in the Radical Line and with the new core design it has a strong continuation downlane. The Guru was made for heavier oil conditions, and it lives up to the billing. I have mine drilled with the control layout that is shown on the layout sheet that comes in the box. I wanted a ball that will give me a stronger cover in oil, but not hook early. Even with the box 1500 surface, I haven't found a condition where it hooks early. With a pin under drilling, it still gets 45 feet down the lane and makes a strong motion downlane. You can easily make surface adjustments to this ball that won't affect the strength. I can keep moving left into the oil, and it still has the recovery down lane. Another great feature is creating more entry angle into the pocket to get the 7 or 10 pin out.
