First off let me explain what kind of bowler I am.
I am a Full Roller with a 90 degree axis rotation with zero tilt.
I have very low ball speed (10 mph at the pins) and very low revs (150 rpms).
Because of this, on drier house shots, I am forced to use urethane. Even weak reactive is too strong. But as you know, the problem with urethane on modern lane conditions, is it loses its punch as the set goes on due to oil saturating the ball surface. No amount of wiping will prevent that from happening.
Recently I joined a league that is bowling on the 43 foot Big Ben pattern on the slick Brunswick Anvilane surface. They put down a ton of oil compared to the drier house shots I am used to.
Urethane will simply not work for me on so much oil, so I needed a reactive ball that could give me the same control look as urethane but carry where urethane could not.
So I contacted Radical and sent them a video of me bowling and my delivery specs. Mo Pinel recommended the Rack Attack Solid. He said it should give me a urethane look on heavier house shots. To play it safe, I had the ball drilled with a low flare full roller layout. I wanted as much control and conservation of energy as I could get. I kept the ball at the stock finish of 500/4000 siaair. I am rolling it in 15lbs.
I was not disappointed in Mo's recommendation. I can stand with right foot on 13 and ease the ball up 10 board all night. It will rotate gently through the oil getting excellent length, start to subtlety read the midlane and once it hits the back end it rolls hard!
Wow! This ball blasts the rack out. I don’t normally have a ball hit this hard that has this much control, but wow! Radical has done it again. I can’t emphasize enough how incredible this ball is. To have this much control and length and yet roll so hard through the pins once it gets going.
Remember I roll the ball real slow and you can count the full revolutions of my ball as it goes down the lane easily because my revs are so low. It seems like a ball going this slow with so little revs couldn’t possibly hit hard, but with the Rack Attack I can shock a lot of high rev players.
The carry for me is simply awesome. If it is high flush then 10 back. Slightly light and I have a mixer. A miss right coming in half pocket will get the 6 pin falling off the side board to take out the 10. Real light and I can trip the 4-7.
And here is the best part, because of my low revs and the excellent length this ball has, I can use this ball for all my spares!
The Rack Attack is the perfect solution for me on heavier house shots. It rolls for me like urethane but with a stronger back end and heavier roll.
This ball gets my top recommendation. It is the perfect ball for the low rev, low ball speed player who wants high rev high ball speed hitting power!
