Anyone that knows me, or has read my reviews in the past, knows that I don’t usually favor high end strong asymmetric equipment.  With the release of the Guru line, I have actually started having quite a bit of success using some “trick” low flare layouts.  With the release of the Guru Limited, a pearl form of the original Guru, I was excited to see what I could do with this one.

I chose a layout of 70x3 3/4x30 to create as much continuation as I could get out of the high end ball.  I have a Guru Supreme with the same layout that has been one of my favorites.

The Guru Limited is EXACTLY what I was missing in that line.  I had a fairly large gap at the top end when going from my Guru Supreme down to my Ridiculous.  The Guru Limited fills that gap.

The Guru Limited gets through the heads very easy for a high end ball, but it still provides the classic Guru strength, motion, and hitting power.  It gives me the perfect option when the heads have burned up, but I still need the strength down lane.  I also don’t feel like I need to force it through the heads, which is what typically happens to me in that situation.

This ball will be great for the lower speed, or high rev players that don’t usually match up with high end equipment, but are looking for that option it the bag.  It is also a great option for anyone looking for a ball to switch to when their super strong ball gets to be too much!

Guru Limit
This ball is awesome! I'm a left handed player with ball speed around 14 mph. Also with a high track. So I drilled up the Guru Limit with a 80 X 3 3/4 X 30 layout. This ball gave me 6 more boards of area on the lanes. I started my first game with the original black guru drilled 50 X 5 X 40 with surface of 2000 grit. Shot a score of 225. Switched to the Guru limit to start the second game. I shot a score of 258. And stay with the guru limit for game 3. Ended up shooting 267 the last game. I was amazed by how much room I had on the lanes with this guru limit. Looking forward to using this ball in the up coming fall season.

COMMENTS

Likes:This ball in my opinion is the best Guru to date, not sure there is a pearl ball on the market with the hooking power of The Guru Limited, I drilled this ball using a dual layout of 35x 3 3/4x30 and I am totally amazed at how well this ball performs. may be the cleanest ball I have ever thrown through the fronts, picks up serious energy at mid lane and makes the transition to hook as well as anything I have thrown. The Guru Limited has amazing hitting and carry, I just can't say enough positive about this ball. I am a low to med rev rate bowler and it is like Radical designed this ball for me. Thank you Radical, The Guru Limited is your finest creation

COMMENTS

Likes: I just drilled this ball this week, I have only been able to bowl with it once so far and that was on THS. This ball made the shot look easy and the carry was exceptional, pins went from side to side instead of straight back. I was really surprised that I was able to start out with this ball and have success, I usually start out with something a little bit more agressive and then ball down but this was reading the lanes perfectly. Great addition to the Guru line!!

Dislikes: nothing

LANE CONDITION

Length:  47, 44, 37

Volume:  High and Medium

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):  THS and Sport

COMMENTS

Likes:  Drilled this ball with the pin above the bridge and the cg completely in line, bringing it to my palm, no x hole.  On THS this ball was great OOB, it rolls with out the crazy unpredictable snap on the backend that most pearls have for me.  Even OOB this ball was a lot stronger than I thought it would be.
On the Sport pattern I took the surface to 2000 grit, the ball kept the same type of roll in the mids and a little punch in the backends.  I was able to play 22-15 on the US Open pattern and it still had the backend to kick out the ten pin.  on the 37 foot flat pattern this ball really shined in games 3-6 as there was a defined hook spot down lane.  For a pearl the Guru Limited clears the heads with ease, but what makes it different for me is that it picks up in the mid lane and drives from there.  I have not had a pearl ball that does that for me.  Usually saves up energy and snaps on the end of the pattern......If you are looking for a strong predictable pearl ball then take a look at the Guru Limited....

LANE CONDITION

Length: 40'

Volume: medium

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS

Likes: Had the time to throw some shots the other day with the new Guru Limited. Quite impressive, I don't think there is another pearl high end ball on the market like this one, it has the length of a pearl but reads the mids well. Very easy to control. Ball is drilled 50x5x35. This ball does as advertised. I was bowling on what was left of our high volume 40' houseshot and never had an issue getting it down the lane. I see myself using this ball on longer oil patterns as well as medium patterns or after 2-3 games of play. Ball will get a lot of lane play.
This ball will fit well right under my Primo solid and Guru Master when I need more length with more kick on the backend.
Available now!!!!

Dislikes: I'm pretty sure everyone will say none.

When I was thinking about the new Guru Limited, I was thinking about backend. Since I already have a pin down Ultimate Nirvana in my arsenal, I punched that beast 70x4.5x30. The reason behind that is to complement my Ultimate Nirvana and have a pin up, strong asymmetrical pearl ball with a stronger change of direction, more backend reaction. The first thing I noticed with that ball is how it decelerate when it exit the pattern and make its move. Pretty amazing to see how that ball grab on the lanes. That ball will be perfect for medium pattern or longer pattern when the lanes will start to open a bit. The particular part about that ball is its coverstock. Whatever surface you put on the ball, it will keep its shape and just make its move sooner or later depending on what grit you use. With the addition of the Limited, the Guru line is now more versatile than ever.

I drilled this ball a couple weeks ago and have just started throwing it in league.  I have used it on both synthetic (41' league shot) and wood (42' league shot) lanes.

I drilled the ball 70x4.5x30 as I wanted good length and backend motion.  This ball does just that.  I was able to throw the guru limited all night without any issues with the ball over reacting.

On the synthetic lanes the guru limited got through the heads very clean (unusual for a high end ball) and had excellent motion down lane. I was able to stay in the same area of the lane most of the night.

On the wood lanes I did not like it as much.  The guru limited still got through the heads very cleanly but once it hit the dry it was much too angular.  I am sure that I could drill another for this condition and make it work very well.  I did throw the ball the entire set and did score well but it was more work than on the synthetic as I needed to be more precise with my shot making.

If you are looking for a high end pearl that gets through the heads clean and has good motion down lane then the guru limited is the ball for you.

Radical Guru Pearl Limited
•   Personal: Right Hand, 419 rev rate, 55 degrees axis rotation, 24 degrees axis tilt, 18 mph off hand speed.
•   Layout used = 55x5.625x90
•   Box surface & 2000 grit abralon (by hand)
•   House shot = 44ft medium to high volume (25 to 26 ml)
•   Old wood lanes (lots of friction but an out of bounds still exists)
•   What I expected with this layout on the high friction wood surface was a ball that read the midlane strongly with a readable motion through transitions.  Due to my high tilt (24 degrees) I tend to struggle with balls that don’t transition to the roll phase soon enough and “miss” midlane read.  Asymmetrics give me more control over the transitions but can also accelerate the transition too harshly.
•   The midlane read is very strong, yet it is a continuous motion.  I saw no indication that this ball would not finish its motion though the pin deck.
•   The light hit to high hit carry percentage was very close.  The high hits were solid but the light hits were very impressive.  I noticed multiple messenger pins on light hits.
•   Starting the second night of league in the second game as I wanted to see what this cover would do in box condition as the pattern began to transition.  One thing to bring to attention is the ball maintains its shape/motion even as the pattern begins to open up and then break down.  My transitional moves based on the house characteristics were similar to previous league nights yet the motion remained very continuous instead of bleeding too much energy through the lane.  As I moved in the ball did not become more angular instead it kept its strong continuous motion.  This made adjustments very easy and staying with the ball longer through transition was more predictable and comfortable.
•   Changing box surface to 2000 abralon by hand.  I adjusted the surface this way because not everyone has instant access to a spinner at the immediate moment that you can change a surface, for example during practice before league or tournament.  The only difference was that the ball started the same motion it showed in box surface but just a bit sooner.  The hook-skid-roll transition did start about 2 feet sooner.  The motion was still very continuous yet just a touch smoother as the ball went through the pins.  I was standing about 3 to 4 boards farther left with my breakpoint/exit point being the same.
•   Overall (for the house shot) I find this ball very clean and continuous with good readability in ball motion.  Carry potential looks to be very good at either light or high pocket hits.  This one will get some extended use in my bag. This type of motion would look to fit most medium to medium heavy volumes.  Longer patterns with heavier volumes may require a surface change based on your particular game and preferred motion.  I don’t see this ball as a first choice on the short patterns in box condition but may be a possible transition piece with the correct layout based on your release parameters.
•   Once I have a few games on sport conditions I will update my review.  I suspect the ball to be a bit sharper off the end of the sport pattern initially.  I expect the ball to become more continuous as the end of the pattern begins to blend.
•   Thanks for taking the time to read my review.  Hope this helps with your future decision on ball choices.

The Guru Limited is simply - smooth power. It is very predictable and not jerky... making it play very well.

My third set with it resulted in 259-289-259-807 in second week of league. As you cans see, I only lost one pin count each game so it was in play every shot. In fact, the 289 string of strikes ended with an absolute stone eight pin.

Here's some related info for what I used:

Ball (15#) was surfaced to 2000 grit. Layout is 20 X 3 3/4 X 35 with a P3 hole 15/16 X 2 1/2.

I find that the Guru Limited has a very wide range of playability. I will be able to use it anywhere from medium light oil to all but the heaviest oil condition. Because of this versatility, I will be taking it with me everywhere I bowl.

For a power ball, it is one of the cleanest through the fronts you will find.

Of course, depending on where you bowl and your style of bowling, this ball could play a bit differently for you.

But, this is certainly a ball worth checking out due to its power and versatility.

Specs: Left Handed, 15 mph, ~400 rev rate, drilled my Guru Limited 45*4.5*40* (PAP is 4 1/2" over, 1/2" up). This puts the pin above my ring finger. I chose this drilling because I wanted hook, no other reason. I wanted to see the ball travel down the lane and then change direction. This happens to fill a void on the top end of my arsenal, where I don't have a strong pearl asymmetrical ball in my lineup. Wow, does this ball curve. The beauty about the pearl cover, this has allowed me to get way inside (4th arrow and deeper) when the lanes start to get toasty. The ball clears the front amazingly and maintains the necessary kick on the back of the lane. This core is a proven core and if you are looking for a ball to compliment any other strong ball in your arsenal, I will put this Guru Limited against that ball. If you are an existing Guru owner, this ball will make you drool!

I am happy to discuss any topic related to Radical Bowling Technologies. I would love to talk about your current arsenal and how Radical Bowling equipment can fit to suit your needs! Please shoot me an email at: ChrisHeringer@Gmail.com

A nice rolling ball through the midlane with a definite angular motion on the backend.  I can use this ball on moderate to light oil with out of the box surface, and can hit it with a 1000 SiaAir pad and it works great on heavier volume.  Of course, there's a bit less angular motion whe doing that, but the ball still clears the midlane nicely.

Mine is drilled pin over ring finger, I really like the versatility and it's a great complement to the other balls in the Radical Guru line.
