anyone throwing the Radical Cyclops?
« on: June 12, 2017, 10:49:42 AM »
I'm very very impressed with the Radical Rave ever since I got it for second shift league and now summer. And I am inching my way into another Radical ball. The Cyclops is one ball I'm interested in and I've seen few videos on this ball, but I want to read other opinions before I purchase this ball.

Does a round object have sides? I say yes, pizza has triangles..

I ordered one in the summer in a have-a-ball league.
Not as excited anymore as I'm having good success with with a Special Ops and Desert Ops.
If they don't hurry up and deliver, I may forgo drilling and just sell it NIB

I'd be interested in any responses here also. I'm considering this ball too.

I've had a Cyclops for about 5-6 weeks now so I can give you my thoughts on it.

My numbers: 14mph at the pins; 340 rpms; 80 degree angle of rotation; 25+ degree tilt
Your numbers: 18.5 at release; 345-370 rpms; 45-60 rotation; 10 degree of tilt

With my low speed and high tilt, everything I use hooks and usually hooks too much. Also take into account that I bowl on low volume and short pattern, 40'

I drilled my Cyclops 70 x 5 x 65 which puts the pin under my middle finger and there is no weight hole.  I find this ball to be very controllable and it carries very well when the backends are clean.  The first night I used it in league I shot 825 the last week of my winter league!  My last 800 was in 2006 so it's not like I'm shooting these every week.  This is all I've been using in my summer league now and this week I had three clean games with a 713. I haven't had a ball that matches up to me like this in a long time.  I'm a ball whore and buy 12+ balls a year.  Like I said earlier, everything hooks too much and I can get to use them for one game and then it's done.  With the Cyclops I can use it all three games with minor adjustments.
Three people have ordered a Cyclops this week after watching it go down the lane (hey Phil, you should put me on staff :) ).  I was able to find a Rack Attack Cherry pearl in 15lb and will be getting that drilled up.  My driller is going to miss me because I won't be buying a ball a month unless it's more Cyclops for when this one wears out.

Good write up JS. Thank you for your input here about the Cyclops. Still considering said ball and your review is quite informative.  8)

Love mine, but have it sanded to 2000 for tournaments.  This ball is drilled pin up above the ring finger and cg in the palm.  I am able to use this ball once the lanes open up a little bit and with the 2000 grit I am able to control the ball, still have a good backend movement, but more controllable with the 2000 grit.

Congratulations, glad we could be part of the 800 success. Thank you for helping sell some balls to other bowlers around you.
regards,
Phil

P.S. too bad I didn't see this before we filled all our staff positions.  (lol) Thanks again.
